Pull Those Bootstraps You Lazy Slackers
December 28, 2013 | Erik Loomis
Finally we are getting our lazy welfare recipients away from their t-bones and out of their Cadillacs. This will teach them:
She describes herself as a people person who likes the camaraderie of working with others, both colleagues and customers. At her last job, with Cox Communications, she says she was often the go-to employee who would be tapped to deal with an irate customer.
But it has been nearly a year since Donlevy has worked.
Her 26 weeks of state unemployment benefits $411 a week before taxes have expired, and she joins thousands of Rhode Islanders, considered the long-term unemployed, for whom additional, federal unemployment benefits end on Saturday.
And yes, Im scared, says Donlevy.
$411 a week! Im outraged by the government paying these people enough to pay their rent or mortgage. I for one cant wait for the increase in the homeless population, foreclosures, domestic violence, suicides, and other social problems that result from lost income and poverty. True freedom of the New Gilded Age comes one step closer.

I think $411.00 a week is one of the more generous States.

Then Welfare is available which only pays around $620/ month(Ontario).
EI (Employment Insurance as we call it) is federal, so applies to all provinces.
Welfare is Provincial, so differs by Province.
Welfare provides extra $$ for special needs - medical and so on including what is known as a "drug card" that allows one to receive prescribed medications at a $2 fee per prescription, whether the script is worth 5 bucks or a hundred.
Welfare also provides moving costs if warranted, and $$ for job start-up realizing one might need clothes, grooming, transportation to secure said job.
Unfortunately, I have been a recipient of both programmes, so am sort of an "expert" as my experience has been extensive in the last decade or so.
Fortunately I'm past all that now, barring some foolish financial adventure of my own. - I own my own home(paid for) and pretty well guaranteed $1200 - $1600/mo with small increases over the years until I die.
For the curious - more information on our Unemployment program can be found at the link:
http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/types/regular.shtml#much
I should note: - if 2 wage earners live together, it does not affect their EI benefit entitlement.
Welfare will dock one or the other of the recipients if they live in the same dwelling.
Gotta keep a poor class of people to rent all those dives from the slumlords.

(82,383 posts)that without a threat of homelessness and starvation, they aren't motivated to go to work? That's not a good work ethic. They are telling me they are inherently lazy and need a stick to make them work.
Or ask them why they are still working if unemployment or welfare are so cushy.

(36,478 posts)My husband & I make less than most of the people we hang out with & neither of us would quit our jobs to collect 21k a year. I know none of my friends would! If unemployment were such a great thing, we would all quit & get on it.

(5,364 posts)They need to get their stories straight for their official party line view because they have said both points below that contradict each other
- The unemployed are dissolute moochers
- The unemployed are out of work because of the president's "job killing" policies
So....which is it righties?
