Central Park mugger rejects Windows phone

A gun-toting mugger in Central Park was so disappointed by his victim’s cheap flip phone that he handed it back.

“Once he saw my phone, he looked at it like, ‘What the f–k is this?’ and gave it back to me,” recalled Kevin Cook, 25, of Brooklyn.

“It’s like a 3-year-old generation Windows phone,” said Cook, a New York Sports Club salesman who was walking with a pal near the West Drive in the 60s at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

“I guess he didn’t think he could get anything for it,” Cooke added. “It’s kind of humorous.”

6. I was die hard windows user

and I am an administrator of Microsoft products. No one that I work with, and certainly not me, would use a Windows phone. I've tried. Twice. See world wide adoption of Windows 8 for the reasons why, and the desktop horrors are just the biggest example.

I built a career on Microsoft products, but even going back to the Axim A series from Dell as PDA's, they have always sucked. Yes, I've used them for that long and they have actually gotten worse since then.

9. Hey, some discerning peeps have their STANDARDS!1 Back in the day of 8-tracks

I had a small stack of 8-tracks and a small player box thing. My musical taste was mostly classical. So burglars did their thing. The player was definitely gone, but the scene of the crime consisted of my 8-tracks having been sorted through and discarded on the floor. They had NO use for classical music.

This is under the category, "Adding Insult to Injury"!1

We were just talking and it turns out we are both the same in one regard: While we have, on paper, most electronic/gadget "stuff" taken for granted in households today, it's rather dated by today's standards ( and we're both perfectly happy with our "old" stuff ) and that we should somehow advertise this on yard signs to ward off house robberies to avoid busted doors/windows for no reason.

Stuff like:

- My 27 inch tube type TV that seemingly weighs as much as a V8 engine block: Good picture but a robber would have a hernia carrying it out.

- A large-ish desktop PC: Great high-perf innards but all so passe looking in this tablet/laptop/I-Pad world

- My 16 year old stereo with CD player, a turntable, and big floor mounted speakers: Makes GREAT sound but a robber would have to take multiple trips to carry it out...assuming he didn't sneer at such a big, clunky, dated set-up

- An 4 year old flip-type cell phone; It's a phone, I can send/receive calls and take a fuzzy picture but anybody under the age of 45 would turn their niose at it as it's toolight to even make decent paperweight.

I still do have a cassette deck and an 8 track player, but they're in mothballs. I ought to try them out again for nostaligia's sake. Hell, if a robber saw that stuff they'd probably leave some cash on the counter in a sympathetic gesture.

11. The muggers love iphones..

thats why i won't get.one. So many iPhone muggings in NYC. During black friday week the police dept set up tables outside so people can register their new iPhones with the NYPD. Smh.
