Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsUK: Two guilty over abusive tweets to Caroline Criado-Perez
Isabella Sorley, 23, of Newcastle, and John Nimmo, 25, of South Shields, admitted at Westminster Magistrates' Court sending the messages over a public communications network.
...
Ms Criado-Perez, of Rutland, received abuse after her campaign for a woman to appear on a bank note resulted in Jane Austen being selected for the £10 note.
...
She also sent the message to Ms Criado-Perez: "I've only just got out of prison and would happily do more time to see you berried!!"
In a separate set of abusive messages Nimmo told Ms Criado-Perez to "shut up" and made references to rape followed by "I will find you (smiley face)".

Interesting that one is a woman - so presumably the kick she got from it is just making someone - anyone? - fearful or upset. The man used 6 separate accounts to send the tweets, and the woman 3. They thought it was worth that effort to send the messages. And she, at 23, has been arrested 21 times for being drunk and disorderly.

(10,362 posts)2. One of the greatest English language writers of all time
and they have a problem with honoring her on a freaking bank note.
Utterly shameful.

They had 86 Twitter accounts between them. Throw the book at these creeps.

(101,349 posts)5. I think it's saying there were 86 accounts that were abusive
including those controlled by these 2, but I think it's saying there were other people behind some of the others (who may have hidden themselves better - it says the BBC found this man by 'befriending' him and getting him to tell them his online gaming name).
