http://wondergressive.com/lsd-positive-results/The incredible therapeutic properties of LSD have once again been confirmed in a recent Swiss study. It was the first therapeutic study on LSD to take place in 40 years. The study specifically focused on treating anxiety associated with life-threatening illnesses. Psychotherapy was also used in conjunction with LSD to treat participants anxiety.
we had in 30 sessions (22 with full dose 200 ?g LSD and 8 with placebo dose 20 ?g LSD) no severe side effects such as psychotic experiences or suicidal crisis or flashbacks or severe anxieties (bad trips) That means that we can show that LSD treatment can be safe when it is done in a carefully controlled clinical setting.
Subjects receiving 200 µg LSD and psychotherapy, compared to an active placebo of 20 µg LSD, experienced a reduction in anxiety. Because the reduction in anxiety was still present at a 12-month follow up, Gasser believes that LSD has incredible potential for treating a whole array of psychological conditions. This study is particularly remarkable because unlike previous studies on the efficacy of LSD-assisted psychotherapy, this study employed a random, double blind active placebo.
Researchers noted that one of the most important aspects of the study was that the participants were able to freely contemplate and discuss their experiences while under the effects of LSD, as well as after the trip had ended. A structured and supportive environment appears to be crucial in attaining psychological benefits as well as ensuring that a bad trip doesnt occur.
Psychedelics of all types have been studied and found almost across the board to be incredibly safe and highly effective tools in psychotherapy. Despite this clearly illustrated fact, psychedelics continue to be irrationally feared and demonized in the same ignorant fashion as cannabis.

(16,038 posts)Do not equal Psychedelics made in some bikers trailer. Pretending there is no danger in using some street drugs is irresponsible. Two of my friends from high school are both living in their parents basements after getting bad acid back in the 1980s.

It is a scientific study concerning the effects of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) on traumatized people.
That is all it is. You are reading between the lines and seeing non-existent text.

(28,876 posts)I have some sort of phobia about psychedelics, I think
because of all the bad trips and suicides that I knew
about back in the day.
I do appreciate Stanislas Graf's work, but since LSD
was criminalized, that work is no longer viable.
MAPS, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is currently doing tremendous research in the effects of psychedelic studies on PTSD in vets. maps.org

(21,786 posts)The process basically requires a university-graduate level competence in organic chemistry. All the stories of "bad acid" usually involve people who got something that wasn't LSD at all or that was cut with something else.

(16,038 posts)For generations have been bikers (outlaw motorcycle groups). Biker in mobile home does not equal dummy.

(21,786 posts)most of the LSD on the US black market for around 20 years came from one source. "Biker in mobile home" usually doesn't equal "trained organic chemist", either.

(16,038 posts)Why would one source manufacture literally hundreds of different delivery methods? From sugar cube liquid to dry kool-aid, countless sizes and patterns of paper, microdots, I can't even remember all of the versions I have seen. I had a science teacher in the 1970s who was a licensed pharmacist his wife was a chemist who spent 10 years after college living communally as bikers in tents and trailers. Usually doesn't mean always.

I have never heard of outlaw biker acid.

It can also be a good way to experience the connectivity between people and things that are hidden from us when we are trapped in the daily shell of our own ME*STORIES.

You must have studied this intensely to make such a bold statement as "nothing good can come out of studies like these".

(24,780 posts)having done my share.
After doing acid for a couple of years in the 70's, I quit abruptly in 1974 when I went to work on Monday after tripping all weekend and had no clue whatsoever what I was supposed to be doing or even what my job was.
While it's fun for recreation, I fail to see any therapeutic use for it. OTOH, I noticed back in those days whenever I had a terrible chest cold, a few tokes on a joint would clear up my congestion within minutes. That's just one of many benefits of I found of smoking weed. Fortunately medicine is now doing something about it.

(41,694 posts)When I first did acid it was still legal. I've tripped hundreds of times and it never left me unable to do my job.
It got me through tech school-I could see the electrons moving in the diagrams and it made sense. Even the couple of bad trips I had still taught me something about myself.

(24,780 posts)The orange sunshine and purple haze I did most always seemed like it had a lot of speed, or had some other crap. You could find good 25 back then (which I did once and wow!). But generally we had (my fav) orange sunshine and a lot of purple haze. There was some window pane around too and it was pure, but it wasn't around often. I'm sure some of my friends from back then would say, "man, you didn't ask me!" I did a 4 way hit of purple haze when I lost it at work.
I know the total connection with your environment and I know what feels like a transcendent existence. It was important too that the first time or two you had someone that was "experienced" with you. It made the experience so significant and I'll always be grateful to my friends for the experience.
I can't listen to Jimmy Hendrix without thinking acid.

(4,192 posts)It really alters habitual patterns of thought and unless one is prepared to handle that, it can make one feel like they are going crazy *after* the psychotropic effects wear off. Given good circumstances in which we feel safe and cared for, it can aid in breaking free from habitual thinking. But that is often not the case when used "on the street". The headline is a little misleading. Just my opinion.

They're careful with it, making sure there are guides there to keep the people 'grounded' while in flight.
