(51,076 posts)really didn't pay much attention to them until Abbey Road came out. course I was a long way from home when that happened with a lot on my mind other than music and when I got the chance to forget my mission and sail away it was to that album. Loved them since.
this is a tribute to them, not the Ed Sullivan show episode.
This has been awesome. Some really good artist performing. Ringo just finished a set and Paul is on the stage now. Awesome is the word here.

(1,277 posts)watched it Sunday and watching it again. It is fantastic and so many wonderful musicians. Walsh tore it up and I really enjoyed Imagine Dragons.
Yoko Ono was a bit out there the way she was dancing but such a fantastic show.

(9,083 posts)As the long period of celebrations in honor of the Beatles stateside arrival 50 years ago wrapped on this week, wed seen Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon, Olivia and Dhani Harrison. But where was Julian Lennon? Not at any of these gala events, but instead about as far away from the Grammy-type hub bub as he could be in Kenya and rural Ethiopia, working to help restore clean water to the region.
To me, the last thing I wanted to do was stand in the audience with everybody else, Lennon told Brooklyn Vegan, clapping my hands and being filmed in front of millions while watching a Beatles karaoke session.
This water campaign is a key effort for Lennons White Feather Foundation, which is collaborating in Africa right now on various humanitarian and environmental projects with Millennium Villages and Charity: Water.
Even if he wasnt so busy, it doesnt sound like Lennon is all that interested in hearing Beatles music as presented by half of the original lineup and a series of guest stars, anyway: Give me the originals any day. Ill listen or watch the originals any day, and thats my cup of tea, Lennon said. Thats why I decided that I much more preferred to be in a state of reflection and appreciation and doing something much more subtle and much more heartfelt, in my mind, than the glitz and the glam of those kind of shows.

(51,311 posts)ment of him. I applaud Julian's humanitarian work.
And it was pretty da*n ironic, the show's playing "Hey, Jude."

(3,088 posts)written by Paul for Julian to comfort him during his parent's divorce. I thought maybe Paul included it in the set as sort of a "f-u" to front row Yoko and Sean (combined net worth 700 mill) and a shout out to Jude (net worth 40 million). Maybe I analyze too much.

(17,199 posts)I watched "Rockshow" last week on VH1 and the Beatles tribute Sunday and last night, and it seems his voice isn't as strong as it used to be.
But it was still a thrill seeing and hearing him, along with Ringo.
