Wendy Davis Supports Marriage Equality, calls on opponent to stop defending same sex marriage ban

SAN ANTONIO — Sen. Wendy Davis said Thursday that she supports same-sex marriage and that Attorney General Greg Abbott, her presumed general-election opponent in the race for governor, should stop defending the state's ban.

“It's my strong belief that when people love each other and are desirous of creating a committed relationship with each other that they should be allowed to marry, regardless of their sexual orientation,” Davis told the Express-News editorial board.

Davis, D-Fort Worth, said she is “pleased” that the state's constitutional definition of marriage, as being between a man and a woman, is under challenge in federal court.

the fact that the anti marriage equality Texas law may actually bite the dust very soon gives me so much faith in this country and its genuine goodness. I am a devout Christian of the very liberal variety and so I try every day to light a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

The moral arc of the universe is long but it bends toward justice.

Scalia was correct in his dissent to DOMA Case. The rational is the majority opinion makes these results predictable The reversal of the anti gay laws is a matter of time

I have been aware of the Scalia/Queer irony since that ruling.

It is too funny/cool for words.

He is a genuinely bad man. Wendy's positions on certain gun issues may not meet DU purity standards and her position on choice has been twisted byond belief by some here. But this woman is the real thing. She is a progressive Texas Democrat and she is going to win. To hell with the haters. Viva Davis! VIVA TEXAS!!
