1. perhaps it's because they are under the assumption

that they can stand their ground? Perhaps it's because of shit faux News tells them? Perhaps it's because everyone who is not in the 1% feels like they are losing everything and feel they need to protect what's left? Perhaps it's because they are seeing higher crime rates all around them and are getting itchy.

Probably faux news telling them they can and should stand their ground.

As long as assholes run the news, there will be no truth or understanding.

These guys spend hours a day listening to people tell them that THEY are the real victims. Hear that enough and you believe, especially if it's already playing on latent racism.
