Things I learned during the Alabama Legislature's Ten Commandments debate today

http://blog.al.com/wire/2014/02/things_i_learned_during_the_al.html

- School shootings, patricide and matricide are due to the Ten Commandments not being displayed in schools and other government buildings. – Rep. Bridges.

...

- People who believe in Mohammed practice "Muslimism." – Rep. James Buskey, D-Mobile.

...

- Before they bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church, "Bull Connor and them" had a prayer. – Rep. Holmes.

...

- Voting for the Ten Commandments puts souls in peril because "we are voting against what can save the soul of a believer." – Rep. Bandy.

-Three of the Cs--lying, stealing, murdering--were punishable crimes long before Greece and Rome
-Three more of the Cs comprise a "wish list"--respect elders; don't lust after women and things. If these were punishable, just about every teen and advertising CEO would be in prison
-The remaining four are guidelines for worshiping another person's God

Just don't see the need for all this hue and cry about posting the 10-Cs in public places...

To practice their religion if choice. How would these same three like to have another religion to tell them to stop and pray several times a day.

I thought Tennessee had the stupidest state legislators, but the folks of goat hill never fail to delight.

This is great:

- Rep. Bridges didn't include John 3:16 in the amendment because not everybody believes in Jesus Christ. – Rep. Bridges, opposing an amendment from Rep. Bandy to add John 3:16 to the bill.

is to allow it. Provided of course that at least one additional bible quote can be added. I suggest this nugget.

Psalms 137: 9
How blessed will be the one who grabs your babies and smashes them on a rock!

This verse has multiple uses when debating the religious right.
