ballistic. He laid on the horn as soon as I hit the brakes, I did take about 10 seconds before turning just piss him off. I thought about getting out and telling him to read the fucking sign. I then remembered I am in Florida on vacation. That
would have given him the right to shoot me because he felt threatened.

(30,058 posts)After the CHL passed in Texas I have become more cautious for you never know if the driver next to you has a stable capacity to control their trigger fingers.

(9 posts)instead of trying to piss people off by driving intentionally slow you could, you know, just drive like normal people

(35,382 posts)"right turn AFTER STOP". Didn't anymore than just start to slow down when the asshole laid on his horn. I came to a full stop
like I was supposed to and he just laid on the horn. I just made sure I came to complete stop. You know almost every intersection here
has a camera, so if you don't stop and happen to like run over a pedestrian you ass is grass.

(35,382 posts)easy a minor traffic altercation could turn ugly. If either one of us couldn't keep our cool
it could have easily ended up in another " stand your ground " shooting.

(14,861 posts)I know you didn't get to see because he was behind you, but I bet he had one of those "In God We Trust" Florida license plates. I swear, whenever I see a super-aggressive crazy driver in Florida, they have one of those plates every time.
It was very good that you didn't approach him. As you probably already know, some of those loons want to shoot someone so bad that they'll intentionally try to provoke a situation in order to give them an excuse.

(35,382 posts)for 50 years and never once did I ever just lay on the horn like that. All he accomplished was being held up a few more seconds. We have people like that
in Ohio too but we don't have right to kill someone if we feel threatened. Hey maybe that was old George Zimmerman behind me!

(27,993 posts)and made a right turn - from the far right lane. The car at the intersection started beeping wildly, pointing at the red light. I stopped my bike turned around and said: "I just made a right turn on red. It's legal in Pennsylvania. What the hell is wrong with you?"
After that, seems the light couldn't turn green fast enough and for some reason he was in a great hurry.

(774 posts)I'm not saying that's a justifiable reason for the other guy to get pissed of about it, but legally (maybe depending on state law), he was correct.

(27,993 posts)(you can't pass on the right like many drivers did) and, of course, attracts lots and lots of bike riders - especially on a rare, sunny, Saturday with temps in the 40s.
Think there just might be a tad bit of driver resentment in a situation like that? My point to said driver is that riding high in an SUV only makes it seem you're a big man.

(3,249 posts).... another driver criticized you for it? Does that pretty much sum up the situation?
Since you did not answer the question of the poster above it seems you did not stop at the red light?
Right turn on red .........

(27,993 posts)Sq. Hill -> the "Jail Trail" -> Hot Metal Bridge -> Waterfront -> McKeesport double back to Sq. Hill via Homestead Gray bridge and Brownshill Rd. (behind the Wendy's you'll find a short steep, steep side street that takes you to the bike lane on Beechwood Blvd. I then went back to the "Jail Trail", through the Point, The Strip (Railroad street usually has the least traffic), long pull up Penn, though Shadyside and then home.

and the gulf beach streets today.

(27,993 posts)70 and sunny makes a good ride. But for my money: 35 to 45 and sunny is perfect. A hoodie, a light quilted vest and the kind of gloves you find at your home center for $10 a throw. No sweat, literally.

Getting out and aggressively approaching the car because he honked...unwise. Everyone should just go easy. However, if you're just looking to take shots at Florida, then I'm not sure why you're here on vacation, but...thanks!

(35,382 posts)I had. Just sayen you better think twice here before doing anything that annoys someone you could get shot and the shooter may even get off
free. I love the weather here, we are getting another 6-12 " of snow this weekend back in Ohio.

Your fault for vacationing in Florida.

(774 posts)What I do encounter fairly often is assholes who lay on the horn the millisecond the light turns green.
I normally wait at least a few seconds after the light turns green just to make sure the intersection is clear of drivers racing, trying to beat the yellow/red light.
Jumping the green is a sure way to get T-boned here. The yellow light chasers punch it through the intersection.
