Just did my 1st Amend. bellowing at LaROUCHEites who had an Impeach sign

I was going to say here "TeaBaggers" (don't know the difference with LaROUCHE). I was surprised/stunned at the Post Office to see a table and umbrella set up outside the property line, with about six campaigners with large pictures of OBAMA with a HITLER mustache and the words "IMPEACH OBAMA" unfathomably (to me) next to a picture of JFK.

My elderly heart started pumping not in a good way. I went inside, dismissed the thought of saying something to the Federal employees since I know about free speech. While in line I decided I was going to say something to them outside. I was wearing my usual ballcap with the Vietnam Vet patch plus one of my original dogtags around my neck. So I calmly hobbled across the parking lot, out outside of the Federal property line to the sidewalk where they were.

They had other signs that said, "PULL OVER IF YOU WANT TO IMPEACH," aimed at passing traffic. Since I was being calm in my walk, the jerks didn't react negatively. They seemed to be in their 30s. One woman was on the phone but said to me as I approached, "Hi, there!1"

I ignored her, stood six feet away from them on the sidewalk, turned facing the post office, sidewise to them, and it poured out BELLOWINGLY from me, "I HAVE FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, TOO, AND ALL OF YOU ARE DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!"

As I walked to my car, there was silence, then the usual mocking, "Thank you!1" I confess the F word halfway popped from me, not "F *you*" just "F!1" And one of them said, "OBAMA is fucking the country!1"

I was going somewhere in my car, and I swear the police station was directly along my route, and I went to the front desk and said that I understand the First Amendment but also wonder whether their signs to "pull over" to traffic on a busy traffic turn lane isn't some kind of obstruction of traffic. The officer explained that so long as the lane itself is not blocked, if there is a shoulder, it is not an obstruction. We were both smiling. Then he added, "So what do you want to do?" I said half jokingly, "I want to stop their First Amendment rights," and laughed. He smiled and said, "You want to stop their First Amendment rights." I said, "Theirs, not mine." We both smiled, although I also had some involuntary tearing-up. He said gently, in a sincere offer of civic service, "We can send an officer to look to see that there is a shoulder and that traffic is not impeded and give them a warning if traffic is being impeded." I accepted the sincere offer of civic service.

I Googled back home and see that these LaROUCHE jerks claim to be FDR/JFK heirs in some alternative universe. I also called their office and when the pleasant woman came back from having me on Hold, she said, "I'm sorry to keep you waiting." And I said, "Oh, there's much more to be sorry for" and launched into my "disgraceful" spiel. Surprisingly, she let me finish without hanging up.

How utterly precious.

These poor pathetic know-nothings never did grow past being eight-year-olds, I guess. They've still gotta dress up like Marshal Dillon and go play "Cowboys and Indians". Arrested development. Just like little ol' bushie boy in his fancy-ass cowboy boots with the ill-gotten presidential seal on them.

I changed my mind a long time ago about cowboy boots. Wouldn't have 'em. At the time, I shocked a friend by blurting out - "I don't want to risk having anyone mistake me for a bush supporter!" And I still don't. Not a perry supporter either.

if people listened to them and/or took them seriously. I faced the same situation in 2008 at our local Post Office, LaRouche supporters, both practically zombiefied old men with wild hair were doing the same schtick you describe loudly, and in the most obnoxious way possible. I asked the Post Master if he was aware of them and he said they were allowed because they were on the public sidewalk. Sorry you had such a distressing day. Please take comfort that you did the right thing.

We don't take a stand on politics (although we were pretty positive about ACA). The LaRouchies put up a table near our property. I thought it made it look as if we supported them.

I called administration, but they said the bozos had set up legally and we couldn't do anything. It was disgusting.

I have to say this was before Obama was elected, so they hadn't started picking on him yet. I'm glad. Not sure I could have taken that.

I saw the same thing today while out. I've seen them before at the Post Office, but haven't seen the pull over signs until today. I saw someone taking their picture with their cell phone. Good on you!

is I don't see this kind of display at all. Maybe its also because I live on the outskirts a small town of about 1500, mostly kind souls. In this area we have a mix of what America looks like, Native Americans, South Americans, Black, Whites, Amish and Mennonites. Lots of good folks, some heathens and some stupids. We all leave each other alone and help one another when needed.

I live within 15 miles of where I was born
