(81,350 posts)that what we Democrats did will let as many as ten million people FINALLY get insurance they can afford! And FINALLY go to the doctor! And FINALLY have the peace of mind that they won't go bankrupt, lose their homes, and wind up living in their cars (unless they lose those, too, and then it's the space under some freeway overpass for them) if they get sick or one of their kids gets in a car accident. I'm DAMN PROUD that people have the freedom to switch jobs, or try to break out on their own and take a risk and start a business - because they're not prisoners of what measly employer benefits they can still get in the jobs they may still have. Repeat - MAY still have. I'm DAMN PROUD of that! And republi-CONS - WHADDA YOU GOT???? What have YOU got to solve the problems and the fear and the dread that people like those folks have to live with every day? WHADDA YOU GOT????? Oh, that's right - those folks are all just lazy moochers and they should go get a job, correct? Vote DEMOCRAT. 'Cause WE'RE the ones who give a damn about you and WE'RE the ones who are gonna help you get on your feet and help you get coverage. That was OUR idea, and we're DAMN PROUD of it, and WE'RE the ones who fought tooth and nail to get this through - to HELP you, and these other folks fought it and tried to sabotage it and SCREW you, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY."

(36,063 posts)I think avoiding getting crosswise with the mandate was at least as important than getting insurance.
If I were running for congress in '14, I think I'd wait a little while to see how it works for my constituents and leave open the possibility of running on making ACA even better.

(1,151 posts)I dont get that. Also, even if 10 million people sign up for the ACA, what about the other 305 million people in the US ?
