They are definitely time savers. Rather than finding someone to hold your camera and snap your picture with the celeb, locals on vacation, best friend, or whatever you are trying to document, you hold up your phone and snap a quick one.

I will admit that many have taken it a bit too far but mostly it is human and all in good fun.
