Mozilla CEO Eich resigns after gay-marriage controversy

"Mozilla's new Chief Executive Officer Brendan Eich has resigned, after being dogged by calls for his ouster over his support for an anti-gay marriage bill in California.

Mozilla's board chairman Mitchell Baker announced Eich's resignation in a blog post on Thursday.

"Brendan Eich has chosen to step down from his role as CEO. He's made this decision for Mozilla and our community," Baker wrote."

I expected this. Even the staff at Mozilla (makers of the Firefox browser) were up in arms about this asshat. Tech people don't have much tolerance for people like this generally.

1. The best part of this story is the fact that the climate has changed so that he has to step down.

I'm so loving all of these pro-LGBT stories... the marriage legalizations, the public outcry against the bigotry, so great. Still have a long way to go, but wow, times have changed.

the ones that easily afforded an education, have traveled and seen "culture", wouldn't be SO Idiotic. Good riddance, and good on the folks at Mozilla for the pressure. I enjoy supporting open source and open mindedness.

Society is changing for the better, and the people desperately wishing we could go back to the old days and the tired old bogus, repressive attitudes around sexuality, are rapidly becoming marginalized.

7. Probably on the basis of his technical achievements, not his donation history.

I suspect next time they'll do a little more research to avoid this sort of PR snafu, though.
