I haven't seen this many 911 reports since the December ice storm. Part of I-75 is closed because a power pole and transformer fell and there are hot, high tension wires down and across the roadway. One report said a car was trapped under the wires. Lots of trees and wires down in the southern part of Genesee County. My part of the county had heavy rain but we were spared the winds.
The weather is much quieter, now, so hopefully Consumers Energy can get people back on line, soon.

(26,268 posts)She's not in the best of health and doesn't need this agro. Fortunately, they hard wired a generator to their house, after the December outages, so they can at least keep their refrigerator and freezer running.
And, aside from the big mess on I-75, falling trees also seem to have crashed through a pasture fence, and now the COWS are loose. Loose cows on a dark country road can lead to nothing good.

(29,718 posts)We just had some high winds here in NW Arkansas; but the electricity is still stable.

(26,268 posts)This is really kind of early for these kind of storms. After our nightmarish Winter, I'm hoping this isn't a preview of what kind of Spring and Summer it's going to be.

(10,745 posts)Now, TBH, I was only 3 and a half in '94 but I've read up on the heatwave that followed that summer......apparently, 1936 had a similar setup, but even more extreme on both ends(Aug. 1936 occasionally saw temps as high as 120* as far north as just south of the Canadian border, in Steele, N.D.)

Five minute power outage. Thank goodness it came back on. N.B. CO-OP electric utility here. They're really good in recent years. We still get power outages, but they get the power back on fairly quickly.

(26,268 posts)Still quite a few without power and there is the possibility of another round of strong storms, later this morning.

(14,350 posts)I was in my online class and watching my light flicker hoping we wouldn't lose power. Another batch is on the way.
Hang in there! It's going to be a wild ride this spring, methinks.
