Residents flock to free amnesty bulk dumping project (Oakland)

An opportunity for Oakland residents to get rid of large amounts of trash for free lured out dozens of people to various dumpster bins on Saturday.

The free amnesty bulk dumping project was created by Oakland City Councilmembers, Waste Management and Ken Houston of the East Oakland Beautification Council.

It’s not hard to find trash sprawled near railroad tracks or fences filled with graffiti. It’s been a huge problem in Oakland for years.

“It’s all over and it’s plaguing our city,” Houston said.
