Fort Hood Shooter, Said To Be Bullied At Base, Is Buried In Puerto Rico

A close family member told BuzzFeed that Ivan Lopez-Lopez suffered severe bullying at Fort Hood. One of Lopez’s victims was allegedly one of the people who mistreated him.

GUAYANILLA, Puerto Rico — The highway leading to this small city on the southern coast of Puerto Rico is littered with abandoned refineries. Their rusted metal tanks stand tall above the jungle, a stark reminder of the island’s economic woes.

Once a major oil hub, Guayanilla is now a struggling town. With unemployment hovering stubbornly around 20%, its population has diminished nearly every year since the refineries closed 30 years ago. Today, its streets are lined by wooden houses with tin roofs, and half of its 20,000 inhabitants live under the poverty line, according to Puerto Rico’s Office of the Comptroller.

It was here that Ivan Lopez-Lopez — who on April 3, killed three people before taking his own life at Fort Hood in Texas — was born and raised.

And it was here that grieving family members buried him on Saturday, struggling to understand how a man they knew as a life-loving musician could have come to such an end.

not anymore than the rest of society.

It certainly happens, because you are dealing primarily with a cohort of 18-24 year old kids...not too dissimilar from what goes on at college.

For instance in the real world your immediate supervisor can't nickname you. ...like, p---ylips morgan and not expect a 'hostile work environment' claim. No, the military is a hostile work environment.

The military monkey stomps soldiers who bully each other. What a load of horseshit from a family trying to exonerate the murderer.

Maybe a mental condition, but not PTSD. 4 months on a FOB never once leaving it is HIGHLY unlikely to generate PTSD. Especially the time frame he was there when next to nothing was happening, not even IDF.......

I have a 30 year old son that suffers PTSD from the traumas (physical abuse and neglect) he received from his birth parents, e.g., daily beatings, being used as an ashtray by his parents, to name just two things he suffered from during the first six years of his life. He never served in the military. I'm not saying the guy had PTSD, I'm saying you're incorrect to so easily dismiss the possibility of it, especially in light of his other alleged mental illnesses.

Else you work with to do the same. If you say anything you get to retrieve a pack of cigarettes from the outdoor head. The same head you will be guarding for the next 24 hours. And tomorrow you get to start all over again.

That's no excuse to shoot up the place. Quit if you don't like it and get a job at Disney World at the Its A Small World Ride if you need hugs at work.

He is a grown ass man. Sure he had to deal with shit. We all do, but it's no excuse to start shooting, nor is it a defense from criminal prosecution.

Should we all just forget this icky shooting and hug it out while John Fucking Denver sings in the background?

Life is hard. You deal with it. You don't shoot a few people because you were picked on like a middle schooler with acne.
