(14,524 posts)You mean those of us that think that our government should be bound to follow the Constitution and not be spied on by the NSA?
Those "followers?"

(11,641 posts)they'd never do that....
Crazy stuff, huh?

(16,820 posts)And just because other causes might not be addressed as much as they should be doesn't mean that we should ignore this one. Besides, the government isn't just spying on middle-class white people; they're spying on all of us. The OP is a major fail.

As if Snowden were the issue to begin with.

(82,383 posts)The government already has plenty of information on each of them. And maybe the metadata would find a terrorist. But they want to believe they are being "spied on" and if they are even, what is going to happen to them? The "corporations" have tons of data on them.

(45,251 posts)I am glad that I know some of what the USG is doing. I don't see myself as a follower of Snowden, though.

I am very glad to have the info he disclosed and that is about it for me. If you don't think being glad for the info makes you a follower, why accept a label in which you don't believe?
Making this about Snowden and what he has NOT said publicly about Afghanistan or anything else is only deflection of the worst kind anyway. And sweeping his alleged "followers" into it is an even worse tactic.
I respect your willingness to accept the label, but I do not respect the tactics of the opening post.

(44,765 posts)Let them, they really have nothing else. Take the OP for example. Post a bunch of crap that anyone who has read DU for more than five minutes knows is a complete pile of bull shit because any Democrat here or IRL speaks out about those things and use it to smear and trash the people who don't hate Snowden and give a group some mindless drivel to rec and say atta boy.
I love the Fuck it, says I.

(45,251 posts)I am not willing to give the fake label either.
I am tired of these tactics. Among many other things, they are boring, tedious and childish, as well as being wrong and therefore are a detriment to the board as a whole.
If a poster want to smear me, they need to step it up and at least make it interesting.

(44,765 posts)was when I realized how stupid their game is. They toss that name on him like it's a big ass smear. Obviously they haven't picked up a dictionary for a while.

Who runs the war on drugs?
Who is in charge of the economic policy?
Who is in charge of civil liberties policies?
Who is in charge of the CIA?
Who is in charge of the the endless and useless wars?
Who is in charge of "security"?
Snowden and Greenwald? Or the government?

(45,251 posts)all the other topics you mentioned make Snowden a hypocrite? He was in his 20s at the time and not a journalist. And what makes someone a follower of Snowden? I've asked that of other posters upthread. May as well ask the OP. Speaking for myself, I was glad to learn what Snowden disclosed about my own government. Does that make me a Snowden follower?
As for Greenwald, he is a journalist. I don't know a lot about his career, either, but he probably has spoken out on at least some of the subjects you mentioned at some point. Are you sure he hasn't? If he hasn't, then that is too bad.

(14,524 posts)... looks like just another hit and run, drive-by OP.
Seems "YoungDemCA" doesn't even believe their own bull shit enough to defend it.
I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say.

(12,151 posts)Opposition to authoritarianism is part and parcel of progressive / Democratic activism and always has been.
The better question is where is ANY self-professed liberal or progressive finds a motive to rally around unconstitutional invasiveness by the government.
If libertarians are opposing violations of the 4th Amendment, they are right about that.
To the extent anyone else thinks limitless, illegal government spying is okay, they are wrong about that.
Some very convoluted logic going on here.
