How can we fight RW Trollers on progressive web pages?

Two days ago, I recieved an advert from the Brack Obama FB Page, where im suscribed, about the raising of minimum wage.

I went on post an answer that my thoughts were this raise was a need, and that not only as an observer I supported it, but I also wished the same could be done accross Western europe, according to the increasing gap between rich and poors and the disapearring of middle-class.. I do belive the issue is beyond US, ant that Obama sets a good example on this.

I very quicly got ambushed by a guy, whom I quicly discovers he was a rw nut troll. Because he begun his firestorm by attacking me that opinion of foreign person didn't since we could not vote.

I will not detailled all the hate that was trown at me everytime I begun to come back to the main topic. And he was happily followed by a whole bunch of people so intolerent that not only first I saw as counterpart of the most extreme rights activist in France, but I event went to wonder how haddn't I discover earlier such hate couldn't exist.

Just for fun, according to them, I am a french stincky socialist catholic paedophile jew and muslim.... and much more crap!!!!!!

Luckily I recieved a lot of support too!
Other memebers told me those are using under numerous different fake accounts.

The question is; appart of heckling for the pleasure to spread hate like no more than schoolyard bullies they are, what is the REAL MOTIVATION of GLOBAR RIGHT WING to haze progressive such a disgusting way?

And how to fight them on the online "front" without using their methods.

As for my part, I do believe that their unsatitiable need of dominations requires that after having gotten in their pockets the majority of mas media, its not sufficient, they also want the WWW???

1. one does not need to be from a place in order to have an opinion

it is possible that someone who is not from there might not be fully aware of things but then they should be able to respond by bringing up facts and other information.

but these people just want to shut people down. they would do the same if you were gay, person of color, religious minority, atheist etc.

Its a cornelian choice, really.

If you respond to attacks, the go ore and more aggressive, no matter if you do it by direct or indirect response or, even when you stay back on the main topic discussed.

If you stay silent, the haze goes on, more and more aggressive.

The best way to respond is to kick them out and even report them.
Im not American. But I have been trashed in some words that might got an ear from FBI or police really.....

Democratic Underground. That team is here every day, around the clock. Mostly, people don't see its work, since the team catches and bans trolls almost as soon as they register here.

If you're using web sites that don't get rid of trolls, make the decision not to use those web sites. That's the only real way to preserve your sanity, I think.

conservative. Even there those kind of French RW troll are there. Its no more moderated!!!! and, to set an example,on a traditionnaly NORMAL moderate conservativie news paper, I called for a moderater to review something beyond cruelty ( they were discussing about killing jobless people to reduce unemployement rate) and I was censored, and that my comment who dissaperead. And I was far to be the the lone on.

8. A troll will get one post from me, understated and reasonable

and then I simply disengage. The troll is left spluttering in impotent rage as he's left dangling and his subsequent unreasonable post laying there like a fish that has been dead too long and is beginning to stink.

Most trolls are your basic narcissist and the meanest thing you can do to them is withdraw attention. I do the one post for any fence sitters and then I leave.
