If the GOP is in a position to make gains then voters are really deranged. The GOP is on the wrong side of every issue and have done great harms to all workers including Republicans. It is hard to have hope for a better country.

We go through the same crap time after time, election after election. If people do not realize how important these elections are it only proves to me they just don't care to know. Do the Dems always put up the best person to vote for? Hell no! Do they always do exactly what we want them to after they are elected? Hell no! Just remember what the alternatives are.

I.m saying it right out. The only time the left really gets fired up is in Presidential years and sometimes not even then. If the left voted with the same consistency the right does, the right would win very seldom if at all.

Because that's what this is really about. For a variety of reasons, including the disproportionate number of new voters (young people, new citizens) who vote Democrat, Dems suffer in non-national elections...and the midterms are perceived not as a national election but as a series of local races. Want to bring out the 2012 voters? Nationalize the election and make those voters feel that the fate of the nation -- and not just the fate of Joe Blow Congressman -- is at stake.

The reason the GOP is likely to make gains is the people who come out to vote in non presidential elections are old conservatives and church goers. This country would be similar to Canada or Australia on economic policy if people would just vote.
