He just doesn't know when to shut the fuck up! What a raging asshole!

Clippers’ Donald Sterling slams Magic Johnson: ‘He’s got AIDS!’

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling repeatedly disparaged Magic Johnson’s HIV-positive status in an interview that aired Monday, saying he was not a fit role model for children and dismissing his work in business and charity.

The interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper was meant to be a mea culpa in Sterling’s first public comments since racist recordings emerged last month and earned him a lifetime NBA ban, but when the subject turned to Johnson, who was mentioned in the recordings, Sterling is anything but apologetic.

“He’s got AIDS!” Sterling said loudly at one point, cutting off Cooper as the interviewer attempted to cite Johnson’s accomplishments after Sterling asked, “What has he done, big Magic Johnson, what has he done?”

Sterling changed course briefly during the interview to call Johnson “a good person,” but resumed his criticism.

Big shot, high-roller, drowning in money, who's gonna stand up to him? Probably all his life he's been surrounded by yes-men and other assorted sycophants. He just knows they all support him. Yeah, my ass. He just knows that everybody's said "attaboy" and "you rock!" to him for years so why should things be different now? I'm amazed at all the people who've come forward and said he's been like this for 30 years. Oh really? And what was done about it in all that time? Correct - NOTHING. He was allowed to slide because NOBODY had the guts or spine to tell him "no." Far better to bow and scrape because even the crumbs he lets fall from his table are better than what you'd have to scrape by to get on your own.

GOD this shit is depressing!!! This worship of the rich - I guess it's because if you worship it long enough, you can start believing that'll be you someday too. I think that's at the heart of it - just keep on voting republi-CON and YOU will be rich like them someday, too!!!! Except - nobody bothers to tell you that "someday" will never come.

Some of my bosses at work, and my raging asshole right-wing father ( who has been a boss the last 30 years of his working life ) are of the same mindset. Their brains just cannot process a situation where they can't shape every outcome. In the case of my father, even after he retired can't deal with people outside his small circle ( protected bubble ) of RW friends: He's always going on about how anybody and everybody is always "giving me shit". Translation: Not cowering to his will.

Magic is the frontman for the Guggenheim Partners. Among other things they own the Dodgers. Michael Milken is a major investor in Guggenheim. Right now they are in a major fight with cable tv providers and if I were them I would look to add other valuable sports teams to make the cable companies want to carry the games.

Johnsons' a dick, no doubt. Having the ability to throw a ball through a steel hoop doesn't clear him, in my book, don't give a shit what his skin color is. But the old guy's a whore, too. Maybe he's a wannabe whoredog, like Johnson ? I think it pisses off men who aren't getting any that some guy's running around with his dick hanging out and nobody says anything to him, he somehow got himself a bye. I think that pisses a certain type of guy the hell off.

And for the record - how many of those black players would be slammed if their private phone calls were recorded and aired? Most? Half? Some? A few?

Men behaving badly, all the way around.

Well...

"Johnson was honored as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996, and enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002 for his individual career, and again in 2010 as a member of the "Dream Team".[5] He was rated the greatest NBA point guard of all time by ESPN in 2007.[6] His friendship and rivalry with Boston Celtics star Larry Bird, whom he faced in the 1979 NCAA finals and three NBA championship series, are well documented. Since his retirement, Johnson has been an advocate for HIV/AIDS prevention and safe sex,[5] as well as an entrepreneur,[7] philanthropist,[8] broadcaster and motivational speaker.[9] Named by Ebony Magazine as one of America's most influential black businessmen in 2009,[10] Johnson has numerous business interests, and was a part-owner of the Lakers for several years. Johnson also is part of a group of investors that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 and the Los Angeles Sparks in 2014."

I think someone is just a smidgen jealous. I mean NOBODY will remember the name Donald Sterling when he is dead and buried. Johnson, OTOH, has his name in the record books for the ages.

when he announced he had been HIV identified several years back and said he got it by sleeping with an unholy amount of women? I thought it was an entirely inappropriate label to slap on a guy who bragged about sleeping around with anything and everyone and he was married and was expecting a child at the time. To me, the guy was anything but a "hero".

From Wikipedia:

After a physical before the 1991–92 NBA season, Johnson discovered that he had tested positive for HIV. In a press conference held on November 7, 1991, Johnson made a public announcement that he would retire immediately.[86] He stated that his wife Cookie and their unborn child did not have HIV, and that he would dedicate his life to "battle this deadly disease".[86] Johnson initially said that he did not know how he contracted the disease,[86] but later acknowledged that it was through having multiple sexual partners during his playing career.[87] At the time, only a small percentage of HIV-positive American men had contracted it from heterosexual sex,[75][88] and it was initially rumored that Johnson was gay or bisexual, although he denied both.[75] Johnson later accused Isiah Thomas of spreading the rumors, a claim Thomas denied.[60][89] Johnson's HIV announcement became a major news story in the United States,[88] and in 2004 was named as ESPN's seventh most memorable moment of the past 25 years.[90] Many articles praised Johnson as a hero, and former U.S. President George H. W. Bush said, "For me, Magic is a hero, a hero for anyone who loves sports."[88

Maybe at one time this guy was actually smart enough to make money, or at least steal it legally or not without getting caught.

Now? No way he is smart enough to run anything. He couldn't run a laundromat. But he is in the club, so he has been protected by his fellow travelers despite being the moronic racist he is. Until it became totally untenable because somebody outside the club exposed him.

Almost a case study in how the 1% club works...
