Some good news about 'We the People.'
Checking in at an inexpensive West Virginia motel this evening (in Bridgeport, near Clarksburg,) 2 middleage/senior+ gentlemen hanging around, sitting in the lobby, probably friends of the senior and hard of hearing manager, greet the clearly tired 30-something customer waiting for manager to complete my transaction, so he could ask for a room.
I ask the young man where he'd come from, as traveler to traveler. He says Texas, I ask doing what, he says checking on pipelines, so a conversation among the 3 gentlemen follows, with me interjecting occasionally. Incidentally, young man said he'd run FROM Oklahoma, waiting for it to burn!
POINT IS, these 3 were rather informed and very concerned about effects of fracking, and thought it was likely a cause of earthquakes. I was rather surprised to hear this from this group, especially the 2 friends of the manager. I might have thought they were not as informed as they actually were, absent hearing the conversation.
I left so didn't get to hear more, or any political discussion that might have ensued, but I'm pleased to have heard that much.
