PolitiFact Rates Fox News Host's Claim 'Pants On Fire'

Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle recently used the Veteran Affairs scandal to criticize Obamacare, but fact checking website PolitiFact said she is just wrong about that.

The White House is under fire over allegations that VA hospitals in Phoenix covered up long wait times, during which 40 veterans died, and that similar coverups happened at other VA hospitals across the country. On Wednesday, Guilfoyle compared the dysfunctional VA health care system to what the entire country will be getting under Obamacare.

"If [Obama] shines a light on that, if we actually have some illumination there, then you're going to see this is really what the rest of you all are going to get: one big fat VA system in the form of Obamacare," she alleged.

PolitiFact explained that while the government funds the VA, private health insurance companies continue to provide coverage under the Affordable Care Act. The website rated Guilfoyle's claim "Pants on Fire," saying, "The VA is owned and operated by the federal government. Its staff are government employees. In contrast, Obamacare builds upon the existing private sector health industry."

People are clambering into the emergency rooms so they are jammed together liked sardines in a can. We had to step over people who were on portable carts hooked up to drips in the hallways to get to the room to get treated by the doctor. My husband was left for about an hour in distress - he was in anaphylactic shock. His blood pressure was extremely low and could have died. It was like something from hell. Private hospital.

This is the private system where you wait weeks for radiation treatment, hours and hours for ER treatment. Passed around like a parcel because your primary care doctor can't do anything.

I think the VA on the whole is wonderful!

Roll on single payer healthcare!

Did Guilfoole actually believe that, or did she just read off the teleprompter?

We used to have dedicated military hospitals, but they took up too much of the military budget, so by getting rid of them, the M-I-C shifted more spending to procurement of weapons.
