Question: If someone were to refer to President Obama as a "butchering hypocrite"....

....in the context of responding to an ordinary, run-of-the-mill presidential speech, what would be your reaction as a DUer?

And let's say the same person once referred to American liberals as "unprincipled fucktards."

Would you want such a person welcome on this board? (Not Discussionist, but DU).

You'd need to specify what sorts of deaths you're counting, and even then raw number is probably far from the whole story.

Compare deaths under Obama to under FDR, for example. By number alone, the latter is far more "butchery" than just about any other US president (except maybe Lincoln or Wilson, I guess, although I'm not sure).

we could have got japan to surrender by dropping an a-bomb in an unpopulated area.

The killing of innocents in an illegal war of aggression could count as butchery.

You seem reluctant to give context here.

Is he talking about drone slaughters? Is he talking about lecturing other countries about behavior the US engages in with impunity?

I think you would be better off addressing the substance of the argument (if there is one) than trying to eliminate words you don't like.

How about Bush or Assad or Gaddafi?

If someone is a pure pacifist and refers to any political leader in any country who uses the military a "butchering hypocrite" that would be acceptable to me. If, OTOH, they used the term on Obama, but not on Assad, Bush or FDR, then they are not a pacifist. That would be a symptom of ODS or perhaps just political opportunism.

I suppose the context of those words matters...

But I want to read -- and hopefully offer -- progressive ideas and practical solutions to the party's and country's problems.

And before commenting, I have never heard of the phrase "butchering hypocrite". Is there any historical significance to that phrase or is it just what the individual decided to type at that moment?

Liberal is wing-nuttery.

The first time a Third Way poster here accused me of being a "Right Winger" because I posted an article criticizing Obama for continuing BUSH policies, I nearly passed out from laughing.

What a sad, desperate joke that schtick has become.

I hope you realize that this isn't just a game. You are choosing the wrong side of history. The Democratic Party can't work for the people when there is active defense of its infiltration by corporatists pushing the same policies as Republicans.

I could not participate in that sort of marketing, or repetition of marketing, for policies are destroying a democratic government and pushing millions into poverty and despair. My conscience would not allow it.

but as we all know now, nearly all Liberal authors, journalists, web sites are considered 'wing nuttery' by the Third Way.

They are and always were considered the same thing by the Right and still are. That is enough to give them the credibility they have earned in this Liberal's opinion.
