How Hobby Lobby failed to think this through.

1) A corporation's main goal is always to maximize profits.

2) As a large corporation, Hobby Lobby is mandated to provide health care insurance to their employees.

3) All insurance companies are mandated to provide coverage for birth control.

4) Insurance plans that DO NOT cover birth control will be considered non-standard by the insurance companies.

5) Non-standard insurance plans come at a premium price.

6) Hobby Lobby will now have to pay more money in order to provide less coverage to their female employees.

7) ?

8) Fewer profits!

1. This is about hatred of Women and Obama, they might be willing to give up some profits

to be able to legally discriminate against Women, which will give them orgasms...

The fact they can slap Obama, sort of, is an extra plus to these filthy racist kochsuckers

"they might be willing to give up some profits to be able to legally discriminate against Women..."

If they're a publicly-traded company on an exchange, even if all shares were privately-held, they may not be able to do that...it's grounds under the standard bylaws of incorporation to expel board members for working against the profitability of the company.

2. Apparently they do provide birth control

It is morning after pills they oppose. ACA covers 20 forms of birthcontrol - they oppose four of them.

4. And to provide a plan that does not cover those four is a non-standard plan.

The insurance companies will charge more for that because they must go outside the bounds of standardization to do it.

And rightfully so. Corporations represent huge blocks in a plan and to alter a standard plan to accommodate this bullshit will come at a premium price from the insurers.

14. I understand you want to point out the facts on the case.

The problem for me is I have absolutely ZERO respect for their ridiculous beliefs. I'm a scientist by talent and love, a mechanical engineer by education. Science is my life. And then you have these idiots who believe a complete falsehood (abortion by birth control) influencing public health policy. These are the same people who go around telling us Jesus rode around on a dinosaur. To say that my attitude towards them is "eat shit and die" is far too mild. I'd rather they be thrown into an oubliette so that we could back up septic pump trucks and fill it in with them in there.

I've had it with their mistreatment of women. Had it with their terrorism against women seeking healthcare. Had it with their mistreatment of our LGBT brothers and sisters. If we must financially destroy their businesses and tax their churches into bankruptcy, lets get it on!

3. Actually, most large companies self-insure.

When it's a big enough company, it's actually cheaper for them to self-insure than to use someone else's insurance. So while Blue Cross or some other insurance company is administering the plan, it's actually the company doing the insuring. They'll buy some reinsurance to protect against cancer, but basic services are paid directly by the company.

As a result, every single one of these plans is a "non-standard" plan. The company gets to tweak the plan however they'd like.

However, Hobby Lobby failed to think this through in that they just pissed off hundreds of millions of customers and potential customers.

516 stores.

They aren't an IBM that must self insure. They purchase their plans through insurance companies, unlike the IBMs of the world that hire the insurance companies to manage their self insurance plans.

Crossover point varies by state and other info, but it's occurs at a few thousand employees. Hobby Lobby has more than 20,000.
