was announced Monday.
EchoLight Studios, run by former presidential candidate Rick Santorum, said Monday it will release a movie Sep. 1 that explores the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court decision that was handed down Monday.
The film, a documentary called One Generation Away: The Erosion of Religious Liberty, has been in the works for several months. The movie makes the case that the free expression of Christianity has lately been taking a backseat to free speech, government expansion and political correctness, and the Hobby Lobby case is one example from the film.
The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Monday that President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act violates federal laws protecting religious freedom by forcing privately held companies to pay for insurance that covers certain kinds of contraception. Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties, each of which are owned by Christian families, sued U.S. Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius over the matter and the case was renamed Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores when Sylvia Burwell replaced Sebelius in April.
EchoLight describes One Generation Away as a "docudrama that explores several current state and federal court cases." The movie, directed and produced by Ken Carpenter, features remarks by President Ronald Reagan and interviews with several experts on the topic of religious freedom, including former GOP presidential candidate and Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee.
