We can debate why the Democrats lost the House in 2010. But it appears to me that whatever chance we had to undo the damage that Bush and the Republicans did to this country was cut off at that point. I fear we have reached a tipping point where any fix gets further and further away and may become close to impossible.
It's the climate change of politics. Have we passed the tipping point?

(146,317 posts)Truly, we can. But we can't do it here on DU. Instead, we must do it in our own congressional districts, by getting out the Democratic vote in heretofore unseen numbers. The time to start with this is yesterday.

(793 posts)...that left very many of struggling to survive. But that's an excuse. We showed demonstrable political immaturity - ten years after another epi-tragic election.
We cannot let up or take our eye off the ball. And indeed we have to change the game and do what we are not at all accomplished at- surging a mid-term election.

(3,226 posts)We can take back the House and hold the Senate if we work hard at it, but I am afraid that too many here are more interested in sniping at Obama or Hillary than working on getting the independent and disaffected republican vetoers to vote democratic this year. Forget who will run in two years or what happened in the past the only vote that matters right now is the one held this year!!!

(33,580 posts)And part of me blames the voters who couldn't remember a Republican Financial collapse two fucking years before. (This country kept the Republicans out for 40 years after the Depression!)
Mainly I am voicing my fears that even with a Dem Congress the solutions are becoming harder and harder, because of the damage being done.
I am not talking about how important a Dem majority is (Very important) It's more about the historical look what 2010 meant.

(3,226 posts)If we turn out the vote we will win but too many only care about who will be running for Pres. rather than work for their own district and state.
