So, Hobby Lobby will cover vasectomies and viagra, but not birth control? How can they look at themselves in a mirror? How can they look at their wives? I just cannot believe this, in this time and place. Perhaps next they will prevent women from voting.

(27,120 posts)They look at their wives with a sense of paternalism.
They are "taking care" of their womenfolk. Because women are the weaker sex, prone to sin and emotional errors. They, however, think clearly, with the judgement of God.
I know this attitude very, very well.
I was raised with it.

If God's work includes selling cheap crap bought from a country that practices forced abortions, limits on how many children you can have, persecution of Christians, and investing in the drug companies that make the very contraceptive drugs that it's against your "sincere religious beliefs" to provide for your employees...then yes they are doing the work of their God, Mammon!!!

(3,639 posts)their decision they explicitly said their ruling only includes birth control for women, it does not cover vaccines, blood transfusions, etc.
There is no question they are blatantly discriminating against women

It all makes sense to me. Rushdooney to Alito - it all makes sense.
They TRULY believe this. Once you accept that premise (a Christian Theocratic country) you understand - that this is who and what they are.
They truly do not know anything other than what they believe.
And here's the thing - if they DO feel guilt or if they owe 'God' - then they just have to proclaim faith, ask the Lord for forgiveness, beat themselves up in public - and all is forgiven.

(24,003 posts)...would all be quite happy to take things back to the not-so-long-ago time when only married women could get birth control and had to prove that they were truly married.
