Women may get mad but....Are they going to do anything about it. I doubt it.

For over 40 yr women have been mad about making .78 vs a 1.00 men in the same job make. So what, nothing gets done about it.

Until women have 50% of Congress its not going to change.

How many do you think could do it? Two? One?

Recently there was a video taken on an American college campus & they asked students to name their two senators. Right away they had to change the question to "Can you name one American senator?" One person named Rand Paul. Another said, "Bertie Frank." A few days later I was at a party & I mentioned the video & there were lots of guilty looks. It turned out that in a room of about 20 people, only two others besides me, could name their senators.

I am still not convinced this is going to get folks to the ballot box. I know there is a lot of outrage, but except for DU, it will simmer to a whimper by the end of Summer. We must not allow it to, but it is a shame that this didn't happen in October when the Supreme Court came back into session (I know we would rather it not happen at all).

is that we birth men. How does that one feel? Really, you spend better than half of your life birthing and raising an infant to manhood and he still will turn around and deal blows to all women, including those in his own life. Do you live on an island without women? Were you raised by wild animals away from human contact? I simply do not understand your statement. I can tell you that, as a woman, I have always been cognizant of how my actions will affect the females and males in my life and try to act accordingly and in such a fashion that does not harm any of them either in the home or society at large.

You are flat out wrong. We all inhabit this society.

No - I know he would.

It's just a different way of looking at it. Men in loving, committed relationships/marriages with women DO care and understand that these five guys threw their balls where they don't belong.

Mine is from Italy - his words when I got home from work yesterday - "They need to get off of my balls."

It's a Calabrese man's way of saying - you are coming in between husband and wife.

We are a bit different perhaps than you? Different strokes for different folks but this SCOTUS just took away a male Hobby Lobby employee's ability to provide for his wife - if he is carrying the health insurance.

Turn the kaleidoscope and you will see how it's bigger than just 'single women'. Imagine a marriage where those two people are their own clique and they don't like outsiders butting into their relationship. In that relationship - the Scrotum 5 threw balls where they don't belong.

The ruling will affect women more than men, obviously, but that in no way means that men can't be a part of the solution. 5 men introduced the problem; a few million men can help to counter it. Meantime, you can go somewhere else and stay out of the way of people who are about getting things done.

Put another log on the fire.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
And go out to the car and change the tyre.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.

Now don't I let you wash the car on Sunday?
Don't I warn you when you're gettin fat?
Ain't I a-gonna take you fishin' with me someday?
Well, a man can't love a woman more than that.
Ain't I always nice to your kid sister?
Don't I take her driving every night?
So, sit here at my feet 'cos I like you when you're sweet,
And you know it ain't feminine to fight.

So, put another log on the fire.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
Go out to the car and lift it up and change the tyre.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.

What's that from? I'm assuming it's a country music song, because I know next-to-nothing about country music. It paints quite a picture. Amazing that in THIS day and age, the 21st Century, that there are still men so tone-deaf on women as we've seen this week. Even more astounding that there are women willing to go along with it.

So,are you suggesting we women need to solve the problem invented by men, while men do nothing but say stupid shit and stand in the way of equality?

I wonder if you also think that LGBT people need to be the only ones fighting homophobia? I guess to you it's only a lgbt problem and that those of us who love them should just let them take all the bullshit alone?

Do you also think racism is a black problem, that has to be solved by black people?

Lets play a word game. We'll switch out women for another group and see if you can tell how crazy it sounds.

1. Prostate cancer is a mens problem that need to be solved by men, maybe that's the problem.
2. Poverty / income inequality is a poor people's problem and needs to be solved by the poor, maybe thats their problem.
3. Racism is a black peoples problem, they're the ones suffering from institutional racism, it needs to be solved by black people, maybe that's the problem.
4. Rape is mostly a women's problem that needs to be solved by women, maybe that's the problem.

Phyllis Schlafly did not beat the womens movement almost all by herself... all she did was rally the

republicans to stop progress of the Equal Rights Amendment =Equal pay for equal work that Obama

signed into law as the( Lily Ledbetter) act forty some years later. Schlafly only managed to create
chaos, polarization, and delay.

The interesting thing about Schlafly is that she personally enjoyed all the freedoms that she tried to prevent other women from having.

129. I believe it can have a galvanizing impact
Wed Jul 2, 2014, 10:11 PM
Jul 2014

For example, we don't have Senators Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock or Tom Smith or Representative Joe Walsh or President Mitt Romney.

And it's not like any woman would be good in Congress. For example, Michele Bachmann is a lousy member of Congress who is more than happy to vote against issues that benefit women.

Besides, it's not like Congress having more women on it would have changed the Supreme Court decision.

What is needed is a real effort to get more women involved in positions of leadership at the local level, which will over time work its way upwards. That's not to say that there aren't "binders full of women" that are talented and skilled right now like Elizabeth Warren or Tammy Baldwin or Tammy Duckworth. But a focus needs to be made on being more welcoming to women in the party in positions of power. Not simply because it's good electorally, but because it's simply the right thing to do.

And saying that women have been suffering from the wage gap for years, doesn't mean that it won't change. Jim Crow laws fell, laws against same sex marriage are falling. Women have been working and busting their butts for years and things are beginning to change. The Lilly Ledbetter Act was signed into law. The Affordable Care Act makes it so that insurance companies can't charge women more for being women. Democrats are working to raise the minimum wage which disproportionately impacts women as they are substantially more likely to make the minimum wage. Yes it's stalled at the federal level, but cities and states are raising their minimum wage and Democrats can use that at the national level to differentiate between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to women.

Additionally women are more than ever likely to be the primary income earner in a family. That creates more incentives for women to be proactive about income inequality, as well as more of the resources needed to make such a change occur.
