Not sure about the announcers on Canadian tv, though. They said the US didn't deserve to be there.

No one thought they would survive the group of death. They almost had the equalizer in extra time. The future of the team looks bright.

Tim Howard - New Brunswick, N.J., to an African-American father and his Hungarian mother.
Nick Rimando (G) - Montclair, CA
DeMarcus Beasley - Ft Wayne, IN
Matt Besler - Overland Park, KS
DeAndre Yedlin - Seattle, WA
Kyle Beckerman - Crofton, MD
Michael Bradley - Princeton, NJ
Jozy Altidore - Livingston, N.J., to two Haitian-born parents
Alejandro Bedoya - Englewood, N.J., to two Colombian-born parents
Julian Green - Tampa, Fla., to an American serviceman father and a German mother; moved to Germany with his mother as a young child.
Aron Johannsson - Mobile, Ala., to Icelandic parents
Omar Gonzalez - Born in Dallas, Texas, to Mexican parents

There are 5 players on the team who weren't born in the US but have at least one parent who is an American
John Brooks
Tim Chandler
Mix Diskerud
Fabian Johnson
Jermaine Jones

According to Politifact... all of the members of the USMNT are citizens of the USA (fact check on Nancy Pelosi's idiotic tweet about the team)

Nancy Pelosi should have done research, but the New York Times did a story that seemed to push the idea that most of the team was not American. I did not read the article, but the title was something like the coaches' plan to make Team USA better was to make it less American.

I thought they'd beat Belgium. My WC predictor on ESPN had them in the final 8 from the beginning.
So that hurts too

Didn't see the game... came on 5 a.m. here and I don't have cable

from the descriptions on FIFA and ESPN seemed good

Exciting match although it would have been humiliating without Tim Howard.
The US team has improved big time. The aim must be at least semis for Russia.

When they won the first game (and I think they weren't expected to) it piqued my interest and I watched the next 3, the last two at work where they kindly turned on tv in conference room and provided lunch & snacks (!!) Great game tonight even though we lost - and Howard saved our collective butts numerous times. I'm going to read up on the game so I know better what's happening next time. USA! USA!

Edit: And anything Ann Coulter doesn't like, can't be all bad.

Every time they'd get the ball near the goal, I'd start blurting out random nioses that don't mean anything. "GEET, DAH, DOH, MAH!"

Almost...

Hockey has the chance EVERY YEAR with the Stanley Cup, and they haven't managed to get me to watch yet. So I can't blame the World Cup.

Now if it were the Quidditch World Cup, I would totally watch that.

I watched all 4 of their games and this was by far their weakest effort. Their defense was caught out of position on more than a few occasions leading to a lot of Belgian shots on goal, all of which were successfully blocked by Howard in regular time. Judging from all the hamstrings and muscles pulls I'd say conditioning was more of a problem than Klinsman is willing to admit.

They look better every World Cup and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the quarter finals or beyond in Russia.

No matter how bad our reputation gets in other ways, the world appreciates our athletic ambassadors. There was a lot of praise for the US team and how they played hard, maximized their talents, and displayed good sportsmanship (no diving or vicious fouling).

If we could make people think of Michael Phelps and LeBron James when they think of America, and not so much Dick Cheney or the NSA, we'd be a lot better off.

with the US team. They get better with each "Coupe du Monde".
And that's no small praise coming from "Le Pays des Bleus".
