However, as a point of economic consideration: If debts were forgiven every 7 years lenders would become scarcer as each year of remission approached. The aforementioned student loans would probably never have been made in the first place.

I'm ambivalent as to whether or not that would be a good thing or a bad thing. If lack of credit kept people out of higher education that would obviously be bad but if tuition was then priced according to what people could actually afford that would be good. Either way, I doubt we'd see $225,000 commencement speakers.
