Off-duty GA police officer arrested for road rage assault, calling victim a ‘low-life n*gger’

A Clayton County, Georgia, police officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave following a road rage incident where he allegedly tailgated a woman in her car before following her into a parking lot, where he called her a “low life piece of [expletive] n*gger,” and then spit on her.

Police officer Thomas Sheats faces charges of simple battery, simple assault and disorderly conduct, according to WSB-TV.

According to police, Sheats tailgated a car driven by Michele Griffith, 27, for miles, blowing his horn, swerving from side to side, and bumping her vehicle from behind with his truck.

Griffith said that after she pulled into a parking lot, where she was going to get pizza, Sheats approached her car screaming at her

“‘Why the [expletive] you going 35 miles per hour on a 45 mile per hour road’,” Griffith said Sheats yelled at her.

After telling him that he could have gone around her, the off-duty police officer exploded in anger.

“‘I couldn’t pass, you low life piece of [expletive] n*gger’ … and (he) spit on me,” Griffith said.

He could have killed her with his truck. Did they actually ignore the worst of his actions?

How about 'attempted vehicular manslaughter' 'reckless endangerment' and what was his BAL ?

ETA: From another source:

Sheats was yelling so loud that he actually created a scene in the parking lot. Witnesses came outside and one wrote down Sheats’ tag number, while another called police. Another witness said he saw Sheats spit on Griffith.
...
Sheats was arrested and charged with simple battery and simple assault. He was previously arrested for domestic violence.

Also:

"[He was] swerving from left to right, speeding up behind me," said Griffith. "I even swerved to the right to let him know he can pass but never took the opportunity."

Griffith admits she was going slow, the result of having to pay one too many speeding tickets. But after both pulled into a shopping complex parking lot, witnesses said the situation got out of control.

I'm paraphrasing, but that's what he's also saying.
