Thank you to all who sent good thoughts, vibes, prayers, etc. for Handsome, the rescued cat.
I've just finished speaking with the cat specialist who did an ultrasound and urinalysis. He feels that Handsome is treatable with continued antibiotic therapy and the addition of a medication to calm the bladder. It will take about 30 days for Handsome to get back to normal. So we are greatly relieved, of course!
Handsome has a hernia (not related to this particular urinary situation) that will need to be addressed once the urinary tract issues are under control. It is most likely that Handsome has been hit by a car in the past before coming to us. We will be doing our very best to care for Handsome so that he can make a full recovery from the urinary tract issues, and once that recovery is complete, we will be taking him in for surgical repair of the hernia.
We are particularly lucky/blessed/fortunate to have a very good veterinarian in our city who has a cats-only practice. I have the utmost confidence in this vet and have no reason to believe that Handsome will not recover fully, and have a good quality life.
So...my humble thanks and appreciation to all on DU who kept Handsome in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that your compassion and involvement made the difference in the news that I just received.
May good things come your way...
Yippeeeee!!!!!
