We don't always agree and we've had a few knocked down, dragged out fights in the past but I recognize that she's the best sort of DUer there is: passionate, consistent, and always looking out for the little guy.

She's on timeout now for pushing that a bit too far, but I raise my glass to her.

I think this is what started it. Then the OP proceeded to spam GD with 6 or 7 (according to a post in the thread. I wasn't around that night till later) versions all being locked in by hosts.

In the mean while, while hosts were cleaning up this shit, the troll formerly known as Quinnox posted some meta BS that was hidden by earlg - then of course that turned in to a big conspiracy of hosts letting quinox slide due to his host status.

But other than that, it was the mean old hosts shutting down an innocent appreciation thread:

And that one lock was one of many that morning (my time) in GD. There was some overnight drama about world cup spoilers that grew into 'appreciation' threads about DUers getting time-outs or their accounts being put on review. Then when the GD hosts decided to lock all of them, another hosts decides to start spamming GD repeatedly with their 'appreciation' OP that had been locked. So on top of hosts having to waste time locking the spamming, they also had to try to keep up with the rest. Add to that that a recently nuked former host started a thread right in the middle of all that to add fuel to the fire and then whined when EarlG got in there and locked his thread, and it was a hectic morning to be hosting. So, what exactly did I do wrong? I should have left an 'appreciation' OP unlocked even though it was giving kudos to someone who was busy spamming GD with their locked OP and even though all the others were being locked? I suspect that would have fallen under the category of crap hosting, and besides another host would have quickly stepped in and locked it...

And the whole kerfunkle began because Hosts didn't lock nadin's disruptive meta thread, and she ended up with her 5th hidden post. That hidden post spawned the nadin appreciation thread, which was nothing more than complaining about a jury decision - the very definition of disruptive meta.

Does anyone believe that the eventually locked nadin appreciation thread, that's being held up above as an example of "fair" hosting, would have been locked had William not posted his thread(s)?

If they do, I've got a bridge in New York for sale.

And please, to those who need no naming, I do not care if you have been a Democrat since FDR, I do not care if your stance on Labor is perfect, you do not get to belittle women and minorities and think you are not just another GOP tool. So, in the aformentioned bit, where someone deliberately used a slur meant against Jews, Betty ellen is responsible for NOT condemning that, or for revealing that said person did not have the hammer dropped on them?

If "understanding" this system is to turn a blind eye to the FACT that certain people do offensive things and never get punished, than no, I do nto understand it.
