Irish patients warned 'miracle cure' from US church is bleach

A CONTROVERSIAL American Church which is coming to Ireland this weekend is promising a “miracle” cure for patients – but it is, in fact, industrial-strength bleach.

The Genesis II Church will hold an event in Monkstown in Dublin over the weekend.

On its website it is advertising the event as including access to its “miracle mineral solution” which, it claims, can “remove” a number of serious conditions including cancer, HIV and autism.

However, the product – which is also known as MMS – has been banned in a number of countries including the US and the UK because tests by health and food watchdogs identified it as an “industrial-strength bleach”.

but, of course, that's at a meeting you have to pay through the nose to be allowed into.

Years ago the young lady who used to braid my hair had an aunt who returned home for a holiday. She lived in the US. The aunt found these 'foreign preachers' great comedy and invited her niece to go with her and some friends.
It was healing night and a big tithe was expected. The big event was that a man who was born blind was going to be given sight that night.
After a few minutes of mumbo jumbo the blind man jumped up - I can see colors - red, blue, green, yellow.
The aunt jumped up and howled with laughter to the surprise of many. Idiots she shouted still laughing no one who was born blind knows the difference between red, blue, yellow or green. You have to learn colors.
They walked out laughing and several others followed them. As we say in these parts - 'di dolly house mashed up'.
I still laugh at that one.

Only the gullible buy the BS from these snake oil salesmen. Benny Hinn was in Barbados recently and the place was full -despite all the exposure about his racket.

is 28% Sodium Hypochlorite and has to be drunk with the citric acid solution producing Chlorine dioxide the actual corrosive and bleach

http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/miracle-solution-can-cure-autism-275080.html

Please note that this is not illegal because they don't sell this quack medication - you get it if you attend one of the "seminars". Note that on its own Sodium Hypochlorite is used to kill bugs in water - but not at that sort of concentration.

It really is not just the "stupid" and gullible that fall for this (admittedly, they do make up a significant chunk) ... DESPERATION comes into to play. Otherwise intelligent reasoning folk can fall prey to these scams due to desperation.

It is unconscionable that these grifters (whether under the veil of religion ... or more straightforward grifting) are able to take advantage of people

You are right that desperation can drive people to do things they otherwise wouldnt. It isn't ever helpful to blame victims. That only helps direct blame away from where it belongs. Liars, manipulators, etc. - predators.

Yes, you read that right. Bleach enemas. For kids.

It's the same stuff, MMS, being pushed in the article provided by the OP.

And some wonder why so many of us rail against woo whenever it's posted at DU.
