Obamacare Website Getting So Much Traffic It's Surprising Experts

"SNIP.........................

For months, journalists and politicians fixated on the number of people signing up for health insurance through the federal exchange created as part of the Affordable Care Act. It turned out that more than 5 million people signed up using Healthcare.gov by April 19, the end of the open-enrollment period.

But perhaps more surprising is that, according to federal data released Wednesday to ProPublica, there have been nearly 1 million transactions on the exchange since then. People are allowed to sign up and switch plans after certain life events, such as job changes, moves, the birth of a baby, marriages and divorces.

The volume of these transactions was a jolt even for those who have watched the rollout of the ACA most closely.

"That's higher than I would have expected," said Larry Levitt, senior vice president for special initiatives at the Kaiser Family Foundation. "There are a lot of people who qualify for special enrollment, but my assumption has been that few of them would actually sign up."

Not surprised that someone from Kaiser Family Foundation would feel that way....

They figured they poisoned the notion of "government heath care" YEARS ago.

it's performance appears to be much better than before. Media has been posting fewer articles about it since they focus on bad news.

And they got tons of free publicity from tea party idiots, which would encourage people to check it out. It gets people talking about something when they might not have done so before. Tea party is really shooting themselves in the foot over this issue.

10. This was predicted a while ago...

The prediction was based on Obamacare allowing for a “qualifying event” that allows individuals to purchase insurance even after the open enrollment deadline. A sharp drop in income due to the loss of a job is one of those events.

In 2012, 3.4 million cited loss of job as the reason for losing insurance. Where do most go after a job loss and no employer providing their health insurance? COBRA. And when they see COBRA's fees and limits, where do they go for relief from that hell? They go and get Obamacare because they immediately qualify and it is more affordable and lasting! Obamacare is their safety net.

And this will continue year after year. The current enrollment is about 20 million, and it is not inconceivable that it will be 22 million by November's election, and 26 million by the 2016 election.

Good luck, GOP, in fighting to overturn that.

After Obamacare, I qualify for a much better plan at $141 per month.

So, saving about $260 per month with much better coverage.... yeah, I'll take it.
