Breaking: A huge victory covering much of the South....

A huge victory covering much of the South, from one of the most conservative circuits in the nation. Congratulations to hopeful LGBT couples in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina! #TheRightSideOfHistory

Since Corbett is trying to look all moderate and not corrupt for the election (fail), he didn't appeal the ruling.

http://www.wral.com/virginia-gay-marriage-ruling-could-affect-nc-ban/13846324/ A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond ruled that state constitutional and statutory provisions barring gay marriage and denying recognition of such unions performed in other states violate the U.S. Constitution. The Virginia gay marriage case is one of several that could go to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Because North Carolina is part of the 4th Circuit, the decision could impact the state's 2012 constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

Screw you, Tami!

Tami Fitzgerald, executive director of the North Carolina Values Coalition, called the ruling "outrageous" and warned registers of deeds across the state that they could face criminal prosecution if they try to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

"Anyone who believes that this decision in Virginia somehow strikes down North Carolina's Marriage Amendment is wrong. North Carolina's Marriage Amendment still stands, and no judge has found it unconstitutional," Fitzgerald said in a statement.

it's only a matter of time before she and her ilk will have to face the reality that marriage equality is coming to NC, and the entire nation, hopefully sooner rather than later.

This will irritate some people in the General Legislature, they were thinking of having their own attorney to defend cases the NC Attorney General won't.

So if NC gets sued, Roy Cooper won't be involved. Here's hoping he'll be the next NC governor.

And maybe Kennedy, too.

But Alito has already tipped his hand in that direction.

The dominoes are falling, and the anti-LBGT forces have yet to win a federal case.

that North Carolina’s constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage will “almost surely be overturned.”

He made the announcement following the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals’ ruling striking down Virginia’s prohibition on gay marriage today.

“Simply put, it’s time to stop making arguments we will lose and instead move forward, knowing that the ultimate resolution will likely come from the U.S. Supreme Court,” he said during a press conference.
