First scarborough largely disappears for weeks on end with nary a mention (nice while it lasted). Now he's back and Pat Buchannan, who was banned (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002322923) a couple years ago, is back doing panel.

If propaganda airs and no one is watching-does "it" still make noise?

(146,318 posts)all restricted pretty much to straight news programs. Local news is important to me, so I view a local news program each morning and late afternoon. WCCO here in the Twin Cities presents the news factually, for the most part, and without significant commentary. They describe news events. In the morning, that local news is followed by a half hour of the CBS morning news. Again, almost no commentary is offered during that broadcast, but the most important stories nationally and internationally are covered broadly.
I watch news, not commentary, because I'm interested in the events of the day. Commentary, I can get online on sites I trust, and I can compare commentary from multiple sources. I don't use any of the 24-hour news channels for this.
Finally, I have an AM radio on in my workspace, again, tuned to WCCO, the local CBS outlet. Every half hour and on the hour, every day, there's a 3-minute CBS news brief and a 3-minute local news brief. Weather, too. So, if something happens, it's covered there. That station also broadcasts live feeds of Presidential remarks, if they are important.
I also read the St. Paul Pioneer Press for additional news information, but do not read the editorial articles. Again, I find commentary on line when I want to read that.

Pat on Hitler: "an individual of great courage.... Hitler's success was not based on his extraordinary gifts alone. His genius was an intuitive sense of the mushiness, the character flaws, the weakness masquerading as morality that was in the hearts of the statesmen who stood in his path."

(6,719 posts)Big difference between morning programming and evening programming. The channel knows who is available to watch. And most of us who watch in the evening are smart enough to keep the TV turned off in the morning even if we are retired or otherwise not working.

(5,810 posts)My husband saw him and commented that he thought Pat had been banned from that show (or network). I had the impression (from the short time I allowed it to linger on MSNBC) that perhaps he has written another book and was hawking that. Was I wrong? Please do not say he is BACK and going to be on panels regularly.
In any case, since Joe was there I quickly changed to another channel and watched the end of Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland flick and saw some amazing singing and dancing. I Got Rhythm, indeed!
Just remember there is no need to subject yourself to shows on television that get your dander up or make you want to throw something at the TV. Classic old movies, The Food Network and other shows that entertain or teach you something are also on and there is the On-Off switch, as well! Choices, we DO have choices how we spend our time and what we put in our brains!
