Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City chief medical examiner, determined that the 18-year-old was shot six times, including twice in the head, by Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson. A second autopsy carried out by St. Louis County reportedly found that Brown had marijuana in his system when he was shot on Aug. 9.
"Does the fact that they found marijuana, does that exclude the fact that there might be other drugs in his system or even that the marijuana was laced with anything? host Greta Van Susteren asked Baden. Is that the final analysis or could there be more information to come in terms of the toxicology?
....
"Very important with marijuana is the levels of the different drugs that are present in marijuana to have an opinion as to whether or not he might have been affected by the marijuana, so that he may have been acting in a crazy way and may have done things to the police officer that normally he would not have done," he said.

(7,759 posts)one act crazy. I know for a fact that many police use methamphetamines and other drugs, especially the one who have served in the military. Not all but many of them do.

(17,064 posts)IMO, its far more likely that the killer cop had steroids in his system, making him aggressive and beligerent, than any marijuana making Brown act "crazy". Why hasn't the cop been given a drug test? Let's see his drug test results released to the press... then we can have a discussion.

You do know, that if there's a trial and/or a civil suit, he will be testifying, right?
I like Steve. I even liked him when he attacked me in Meta.

(26,582 posts)I'm not really sure why this is controversial. He said it's important to know if there was another drug in with the weed and how much and that could contribute to irrational behavior. And any other drugs and the amount would show up on the toxicology.

Or the ones that they found but for some mysterious reason decided not to mention they found?

(9,894 posts)Some other drug in his system along with marijuana made a cop shoot him? Kinda like the old "contact high" I guess.
That could be a new defense. "It wasn't my fault Your Honor, he was high and that affected my judgement."
CNN did two fantastic shows on marijuana. They were enlightening. You out to google them.

(36,437 posts)that Mr. Brown was under the influence of cannabis at the time of the shooting: none, zero, zip, nada, and a toxicology report wouldn't tell you that anyway.
All we have is an anonymous source supposedly familiar with the St. Louis County toxicology report who claims that it find cannabis in Mr. Brown's system. That could be from the night before, that morning, or two weeks prior. It means nothing.
Since the Ferguson PD, St. Louis County PD, and the prosecutor are apparently acting as defense counsel for Darren Wilson, there's no particular motivation to believe anything they say anyway, especially as anonymous sources. The medical examiner herself, to her credit, refused comment.
Besides all that, since when does pot make you attack a cop. It's ludicrous.

(451 posts)The doctor who carried out a private autopsy on Michael Brown expressed a pretty old-school view on marijuana in a Monday interview with Fox News, when he speculated that the drug may have made the black teen act "crazy" at the time he was shot by a white cop.
I think that quote and headline by TPM and Catherine Thompson in the article is a total misrepresentation of what Dr. Baden actually said. Greta Van Susteren asked him about Marijuana being laced with other drugs. I saw Dr. Baden on CNN and he was asked if marijuana could have made Mike Brown act in a crazy way that could have made him get shot, and Dr. Baden said "No".

(202 posts)Dr Baden was referring to the effects of, basically, a laced joint. He didn't mention any drugs - but in theory PCP, embalming fluid, etc. would fit the bill.
He was not talking about the effects of pot making Brown crazy. That is taking his comments way out of context.
