"SNIP.........................
What's going on here?
Charter schools are such a racket, across the nation they are attracting special attention from the FBI, which is working with the Department of Education's inspector general to look into allegations of charter-school fraud.
...................
"It isn't the Gulen movement that makes Gulen charters so secretive," writes The Atlantic's Scott Beauchamp, "it's the charter movement itself."
Kristen Buras, associate professor of education policies at Georgia State University, agrees. "Originally, charter schools were conceived as a way to improve public education," Buras says. "Over time, however, the charter school movement has developed into a money-making venture."

(9,126 posts)Though I can't believe anything will come of this investigation because these kinds of schools are always well connected politically.

(36,392 posts)Education will soon be like healthcare. Highest cost, lowest quality in the world, with the gangsters actually made part of the system by law. We'll probably be forced to give a third or so of our education money to blood sucking middlemen while teachers have their pay and benefits cut to poverty level. I'd like to say this is surprising me that it's happening during a democratic administration, but it's tough to get caught off guard any more.

(3,284 posts)Is deeply depressing and disturbing to me.
Does it bother anyone else as much as me?
The fact that Dems are messing up public schools right along with the corporate suits,
is particularly horrifying to me.
Like being in a concentration camp, and forced into the showers by
someone you thought was a friend.
A nightmare.
The Democratic Party is a disgrace on this issue.

(53,475 posts)It was seen that she spent $120,000 for a seat on a school board, more than ten times her opponent, who is a union man. While in her very expensive school board seat, she voted against the teachers.

(3,284 posts)Enemies to the right of us (expected),
enemies to the left of us (surprise! surprise!).
US Public Schools are
dead-as-a-doornail.
And no one will pay a price, except teachers, kids and non-rich families.
Investors get away scot-free with the ca$h.
Same-old same-old.

(3,284 posts)Hopefully, folks are starting to realize the truth.
Meanwhile, teachers, kids and families are disrupted and/or destroyed
in the name of profit.

(33,140 posts)Charter schools have been a rip-off from day one and they were conceived to be so all along.
'nuff said.

(32,060 posts)and it is ridiculous that democrats led this effort. Arne Duncan is Obama's worst appointment and that is saying something.
