(25,939 posts)In my misguided youth, I would have considered being called a 'libertarian' a compliment. After all, what's not to like about liberty, right? I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but those who identified as libertarian seemed to have more concern for the rights of corporations to run roughshod over the population than they have for individuals.

(9,958 posts)it's unlikely that many "know {the} term's meaning," or at least, not the correct meaning.
Based on past studies, the majority of the electorate don't fully understand political ideology (and that includes self-identified liberals.)

(11,417 posts)would be like if we put Libertarian ideas into practice? Anyone can cause any environmental damage they want for a start. We need clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. Where does it come from in a Libertarian world?
