Ashford's (D-NE) point is a particularly good one” -The Washington Post (Lee Terry wans a RAISE???)

Congressman Lee Terry’s complaint about not receiving a pay raise received national headlines. Even The Washington Post picked up on it:

“But Ashford's point is a particularly good one. Since 1973, no Congress has earned more money for its work output than the 113th...Terry should probably know better than to spend much time defending his salary. Last fall, he got into hot water after saying that he couldn't give up his $174,000 Congressional salary during the shutdown. He was not the first member of Congress to defend a salary that, to most Americans, seems awfully generous…” -Philip Bump, The Washington Post

Enough is enough. Congress has been working only 109 days this year and the number of bills passed is at a near record low. In 1990, Congress passed 774 bills. In 2000, it was 433 bills. But this year? Only 91. As The Washington Post pointed out: "If Congress were paid by the bill at 1990 levels, each member would take home a cool $21,000 this year -- a savings to the federal budget of nearly $82 million."

Pathetic.

If you’re sick and tired of a broken Washington where Congressmen who aren’t getting the job done complain about their pay only to turn around and vote against the minimum wage (just like my opponent Lee Terry has done), contribute $5 to my campaign today so I can communicate my message to voters right away.

I’ll go to Washington focused like a laser on changing the culture in Congress. I have a proven record of 16 years in the Nebraska Unicameral reaching across the aisle in order to get things done and make progress on big issues. That’s what I’ve done -- and with your help that’s what I’ll continue to do.

With you on my team, I know we'll be successful in November.

Running for you,

Brad

P.S. Click here to read The Washington Post article “No Congress in four decades has been paid more to do less than this one” and then consider chipping in $5 to my campaign: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/kmtv?refcode=wapoperks
