... some fairly well-off nobleman asked that the people who visited it would dance on it. I think he left funds so it would be maintained in perpetuity for that purpose. Sorry I forget the details, it was 1990 that I was there.

I live near Topeka but spent most of my life in Topeka. I went to grade school with them, Fred Jr. was in my class from 1st grade through part of University. I knew them quite well. I have spent every year since they started their anti gay picketing (long before most people even know) trying to stop them or screw them up but since I am not gay and I am not a "name" around here I never made it to one of their signs. Sadly. I tried, I helped run an election against an anti gay ordinance of theirs and we won but no sign *sigh* then helped found our state wide equality organization for LGBT citizens of Kansas. Still no sign. I totally screwed up an interview with CNN that they were having with Shirley. I buried my gay brother hoping like crazy they would not show up, they did not. So....you may not ever get a sign but living a life that would make that a threat is certainly well worth it. I am pleased and proud of this life I have led. Makes up for a lot of stuff I would just as soon forget that I did.
