How 'bout them Dallas Cowboys?!?! If Michael Sam passes a physical tomorrow,

they will sign him to their practice squad. That's the first big step.

I am not a Cowboy's fan but I will be rooting for them now. All of those other mealy-mouth chickenshits who said anonymously that they wouldn't because he was a distraction can go to hell!

I was seriously angry about how he was being treated. Everybody talked trash about him as if he was a junior college player who did nothing in the preseason. He deserved better than that.

I have no problems with the Rams. Their moves made sense. They have a large number of people who played where he played. They handled him with dignity.

@AdamSchefter:
Cowboys plan to bring Michael Sam to Dallas for a physical Wednesday, per team source. If all goes well, Sam will be a Cowboy.

A practice squad is a non-roster position where teams can 'park' players and activate them in case of injuries, improved play, what not. Keeps them in shape, accessible to the team for practices, etc.
Think it went from 6 to 10 spots this year.

Its been a rough decade plus but with some of the players they've got now I do believe in the next couple years they'll be pretty good once again. Sam will definitely add to that goal.
A lot of things to not like Jerry Jones about but he will give someone who has promise a chance.

The Montreal Allouettes of the CFL apparently have signing rights to Michael Sam.

Then, again, Dallas is a lot closer to his hometown than St. Louis is (Hitchcock, TX is in Galveston County, close to Houston).

We'll wait and see.

It seems like a valid reason. The squad seemed to like him and he seemed eager to please so more than likely it really was just a decision of which player would be better for the team.

They gave him a chance and he produced. They also treated him with dignity all through his time there.
When Coach Jeff Fisher was asked about what distraction he might be for another team, he said, "None."
The Rams have one of the deepest defensive lines. Practice squads usually hold players for positions where a team is thin. The Cowboys are beyond thin. Other teams could have used him.

Consider this:
12 players had over 2.5 sacks during the preseason. After cutdowns, 10 were on 53 man rosters. One was on a practice squad. Michael Sam was the only one left unsigned until the Cowboys began to show interest.
This is chickenshit cowardice and bigotry.

If they win with their current personnel, they'll keep their current personnel.

If the players now on the defensive line perform badly and cost the team some games, there's more chance that the coach will decide to see what Sam can do.
