Why do some conservatives simply go off the deep end?

This guy Mychal Massie at WND is either nuts, or is making a lot of money acting this way.

"Obama is a hardcore Marxist-Leninist."

"Obama is a communist and we had better understand that because this Alinskyite is not just destroying our way of life, he is betraying us to our enemies."

-Mychal Massie, writer for WND

Everything they stand for has been proven to fail yet they all recite the party lines to some extent.

People get habituated to a dose, and need more to get the same kick it once provided, back when it was new....

They are destined to lose. They are, for the most part, anti-progress and progress always happens in spite of them. Sometimes progress grinds forward so slowly it is maddening to us, but it grinds on nonetheless.

Women got the vote, The New Deal happened, the 1964 Civil Rights Act. All in spite of them. And yes, a black man was elected President, in spite of them.

And I think deep down inside, no matter how many sabot they fling at the wheels of progress, they know they can't stop it. And it drives them stark.raving.mad.

Conservatism is inherently an illogical ideology so we cannot truly expect conservatives to be logical. Their minds just don't work that way because either they are not capable of logical thinking, or if they are intelligent enough to think on the level of the average person then they actively choose to suppress it and juggle reality around. This leads to cognitive dissidence and mental issues, which shows up as irrational, hateful behavior.
