Michael Smerconish was being interviewed on MSNBC and made a statement that he's a gun owner

and he's been highly disturbed that over the last 3 years, there's been a constant hammering of "they're coming to get your guns" rhetoric and NOTHING is further from the truth because there's been NOTHING from this administration that has even intimated anything even close this happening.

The comment followed the conversation about the pushing of SYG laws and Castle Doctrines, among other extreme gun related legislation.

be speaking a lot of Truth and common sense. I don't know solely if it because of his new venue, but I I have to appreciate that coming from someone on the right.

or the few there is are a lot more vocal than the rest of us. Personally I don't own and don't give it much thought. In a perfect world we wouldn't need a gun but this isn't a perfect world cause some think they need guns. To each his own I say

So gun manufacturers can sell more. And people are stupid enough to believe that it will happen even though what laws have been enacted that have seriously impacted negatively on the buying of guns?

I remember since about 1986 that this meme has been consistently pushed.

The right is full of authoritarians, heavily into strict punishment, sneer at rehabilitation, while using free prison labor and profiting from private prisons...

And they seem to have more crime in their states and feel more at risk. I don't have a problem with gun laws either way. I don't believe when push comes to shove, having a gun will really save your life, like something out of a Hollywood movie.

That's the difference between the left and the right or the gun rights and anti-gun folks; one expects to be living in a constant duel, the other expects respect.

I've heard this same bullshit from the NRA for at least 30 years. It's why I am no longer a member of that organization. It degenerated from an educational and information source for shooting, safety and reloading enthusiasts, to attempting to goose firearms sales by scaring the shit out of the hicks.

Hopefully the Democrats will be smart enough to avoid the trap that has been set for them by these douchebags and keep away from attempts to limit gun ownership. They have been so far in this administration.

I'm no fan of heavy handed gun control, and support the right of people to own and even carry firearms. I do have some basic minimum requirements however, first a background check resulting in finding no felony convictions, no convictions for violent behavior, and a clean bill on mental issues. If these requirements are met, then ownership should be allowed. for concealed carry, I would advocate one more requirement - passing a basic firearms training program. But the NRA has opposed even this minimum level of control.

right. He was pissed that anyone attempted to tell him who and what to vote for and bounced. They still send him mail even though he's phoned them to ask to be taken off their mailing list.
