(30,439 posts)Michelle has to play nice. But let's be honest, Every mother works hard, but some have to work much harder than others.
Most mothers are not in the 1%. Ann Romney isn't just in the top 1%, she's in the top 0.1%.

(12,804 posts)1 of Ann "Lovey Howell" Romney's Austrian dressage horses.
My mother was a stay at home mom until my dad died and she had to go back to school to get a teaching degree and find a job as a teacher. We were better financially than others in my mom's predicament, but we were also light years away from Ann's pampered lifestyle. We were fortunate that my father's brothers pooled their resources to pay off the mortgage to our house that dad had bought before he died. But even my paternal uncles, who were small businessmen, combined could not come near Mitt's millions and my mother still had to pay our of her own pocket the property taxes and daily maintenance on the house. She prayed every day that we were not hit with a personal or natural catastrophe. If either my mom, my 2 brothers or I had suffered a major illness, it would have made us homeless. Ann Romney never had to worry about that.

(72 posts)I'm disappointed in Michelle Obama for doing this. She played into right-wing's framing of this "non-troversy." Hillary Rosen wasn't picking on mothers, at all. Her point was that Ann Romney is rich, and never had to struggle, like the average working-class woman. Or, man. Ann Romney can't relate, and is not the right spokesperson to reach out to these women. Ann Romney is lucky that she had the choice of never having to earn a paycheck.
