Understand
In an exchange caught on camera, Howell berates the groups executive director Anna Scholl, mocking the groups website and her. Howell criticizes the Washington Posts article about the groups as full of half-truths or un-truths.
In a failed attempt to back up his accusation, Howell notes that while the Commonwealth paid about $230,000 on ALEC-related expenses, it spent even more on travel for the same and other legislators to attend conferences by the bipartisan National Conference of State Legislators.
When by Scholl pressed as to how omission of that irrelevant detail constituted an inaccuracy, Howell berated her:
I guess Im not speaking in little enough words for you to understand.
When Scholl responded to the slight, telling him Im a smart girl, actually I went to the University of Virginia, more than capable of understanding polysyllabic works, Howell curtly replied, Well good for you.

It is absolutely frightening to think that an organization comprised of big business is writing laws that are not about business.

His harsh insult is a venting of the pent up stress from needing to obfuscate the truth.
Thanks for the thread, Guy Whitey Corngood.

(944 posts)Scholl is very, very good. More power to her in VA! Howell thought he could throw her off by angering her.
Screw him. There are more of us.
Yes indeedy... to Ms. Scholl!

(40,416 posts)How far does the Republican Party have to go before the electorate (so to speak) realize the extent to which that they have totally jumped off the deep end?
Religion and democracy are like oil and water. How far can the Republicans go before the electorate realizes that if they vote for a Republican, they are voting against the nation's interest?
What is it going to take?
