John Boehner: Unemployed Americans Are A Bunch Of Lazy Moochers Who Don't Think They Have To Work

John Boehner Says Unemployed People ‘Just Sit Around,’ Don’t Think They Have To Work
BY IGOR VOLSKY

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) seemed to echo Mitt Romney’s infamous claim that 47 percent of Americans are “takers” who suck up government benefits during a speech at a conservative Washington D.C. think tank on Thursday. Addressing the American Enterprise Institute, Boehner suggested that President Barack Obama’s economy has lulled many unemployed people into a sense of dependence on government.

“This idea that has been born, maybe out of the economy over the last couple years, that you know, I really don’t have to work. I don’t really want to do this. I think I’d rather just sit around. This is a very sick idea for our country,” he said.

“If you wanted something you worked for it,” Boehner said, adding, “Trust me, I did it all.”

But the unemployed aren’t jobless because they’re lazy or receive government benefits. Most face huge obstacles to finding good paying jobs in a slow economic recovery.

1. It has been Republican policies (such as blocking a higher minimum wage and jobs bills) that have been keeping people more dependent on government assistance.

2. When you said “if you wanted something you worked for it. Trust me, I did it all.", that is another big fat lie. You guys (House Republicans) work less than half of the year, and have gotten paid 6 figures annually mostly to block important pieces of legislation. The only thing you are good for is projecting. You project your traits (as moochers) onto others.

Maybe he thinks being elected is a form of retirement. Most of us believe he is actually taking money for doing nothing. OK, maybe he is just working to destroy other people who actually work.

If your focus is voting against things that help other Americans, I believe that you are not a good American or even human being.

John Boehner’s Theory of the Leisure Class
But what really gets me here is the fact that people like Boehner are so obviously disconnected from the lived experience of ordinary workers. I mean, I live a pretty rarefied existence, with job security and a nice income and a generally upscale social set — but even so I know a fair number of people who have spent months or years in desperate search of jobs that still aren’t there. How cut off (or oblivious) can someone be who thinks that it’s just because they don’t want to work?

This hypocrite just got off of a 6 week vacation, and now he and his hypocrite crew are taking off another 5 weeks.
So 11x7 makes 77 DAYS. NICE huh?
This piece of work is taking from you and me in this society and the Ohioan's out of $220000.00 dollars a year as a government speaker for the DO NOTHING CONGRESS.
Now for the 77 days just in the last two months that works out to be 18,333.00 per month for 30 days.
So, Ohio when you go to the election booth that your sec of state is trying to disenfranchise you from voting in how does it really feel to know that this hypocrite makes this money while you the poor and middle class make on average between 15000 and 85000 per year divided by 2020 hours per year at full time 40 hours per week that works out to $7.45 Per Hour @ (15000 per year) /$42.00 Per Hour @ (85000 per year).

Sat Sep 20, 2014, 11:15 PM
Sep 2014

I think Mr. Boehner should carefully examine that (bullshit) theory. First of all, how much does he think a single unemployed person can get through government benefits? I can tell you, it's not a whole hell of a lot. It's not as much as it should be, either, for people who are desperate and need help. He did it all? Well, he's not doing it now. How hard does he actually "work" for that salary he earns? What is it, two hundred thousand? How many days a year is he actually working? Does it even amount to 40 hours a week?

Rich man makes ridiculous amounts of money for not doing very much... while a poor person receiving state or federal assistance is filling out several applications every week, eventually working for minimum wage, attempting to earn a higher education and being crushed by debt... hmm. Perhaps even being forced to file bankruptcy due to medical debt.

You know what, I think I'd rather sit around. I think I'd rather have Boehner's job than mine, my 32 hours a week at 8.50 an hour keeps me moving all weekend, on my feet, running my ass off to earn that money. I'd happily do HIS job for MY pay and he can do my job for his. We'll see who's more exhausted at the end of the week. Fucking prick.

I don't give a shit what you did, Mr. Boehner. I don't care if you once swept a floor or actually know how to use a mop. What I care about, is that you're a rich, pretentious nitwit with a sense of entitlement. That you seem to think that doing a piss poor job in a really important position somehow gives you the credibility to mock and insult people who are desperately looking for any kind of job at all.

No credibility, no honor, no tact, no common sense, no humility. I don't think Mr. Boehner realizes just how dramatically he fails as a human being.

I have learned over the years, when someone says "trust me", they really mean the opposite. Needless to say, I trust Boner about as far as I can throw my house.

I have been unemployed for over a year now, without any UE benefits. Even after sending thousands of applications to get 1 or 2 interviews, I still have not landed a job. I am a qualified person in the IT field. The REAL problem is I'm 59. After many stories I've read and heard, no one wants a 59 year old in IT. I've also heard that after 40, is when this starts to become an issue.

Am I lazy? NOT!!! So, how dare this SOB say such a thing. We need to vote his ass out of office and all his cronies. I've about had enough of these far right, holier than thou, assh*le republicans.
