......... that we are really fortunate to have an independent left news source such as Democracy Now! ..... Amy Goodman interviewed people such as Kshama Sawant, and from groups such as domestic workers fighting exposure to chemicals in the workplace -- interviews that you'll never see on corporate media.
So Thank You Amy, thank you Juan Gonzales ...... and Bill Moyers and Thom Hartmann and your ilk. You're indispensable.
And I've seen CSPAN cover Tea Party rallies. But 200,000 people marching about the most important issue facing all of us? Not so much.

(1,620 posts)Yellow journalism has been "in" for decades now, largely due to the 24 hours news cycle and a woefully under-educated electorate.

(13,039 posts)Admit to a problem that undermines the standard narrative with which they use to control and manipulate the 99%.
To admit that problems exist would be to open a Pandoras box of questions that would begin to undermine the standard narrative.
This must never be allowed to happen.

(10,597 posts)... is three hours were not enough! I particularly liked it when Angelique Kidjo sang a couple songs. Amy Newman is a national treasure, for sure. I call her our "Walter Kronkite." A broadcast & online journalist with a conscience. And there's no one piping her the questions. She used no teleprompter today. Was in her "element": out among the people on the ground. You could tell she was really enjoying herself. I loved it when she stopped and read some signs for the broadcast audience: "A good planet is hard to find!" "Tarheels against Tarsands." (college kids from NC.) "Give Bees a Chance!" "Save the Ice Caps" "Cook Organic, Not the Planet." And if you didn't hear it, go to http://www.DemocracyNow.org and listen to Neil Young's new song dedicated to climate change.

(32,013 posts)The "so-called liberal media" like ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/your local newspaper, heck even the "even more left wing" media like NPR/PBS/MSNBC...not really left wing at all!

WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)over 50 people showed up for a climate rally and march through town. Not a bad percentage of the population.
Highway 101 is the only route on the coast and runs right through town, over half the motorists honked in support.
