The story of Private Henry Tandy and Private Adolph Hitler

Although disputed, it goes like this: After the battle of Marcoing in October 1914, a wounded and weary German Private wandered into the line of fire of British Army Private Henry Tandey. Because the German was wounded and made no attempt to raise his own rifle, Tandey did not fire. Hitler later recognized Tandey from a newspaper photograph. If only . . .
